Anyone else trying out the Brave Browser? I am using it now, I love that it has a built in Dark mode and the currency thing seems interesting.

A long period of beta incubation has come to an end with the release of Brave 1.0, the privacy-focused speed demon of a browser that's been turning heads with its cavalier approach to ad-blocking and its promises of cryptocurrency payouts. The open source brainchild of Javascript creator and Mozilla project co-founder Brendan Eich, Brave now touts more than 8 million users worldwide, while promising to automatically block trackers and invasive ads to improve speed, privacy and battery life.

Today marks the official launch of Brave 1.0, a free open-source browser. The beta version has already drawn 8 million monthly users, but now, the full stable release is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Brave promises to prioritize security by blocking third-party ads, trackers, and autoplay videos automatically. So you don’t need to go into your settings to ensure greater privacy, though you can adjust those settings if you want to.

Been using the android version of it on my phone and tablet for a while, and I like it better than the android version of Firefox - But I like Firefox over Brave on my PC.

I've been using it for months, and I like it better than anything else I've tried.

Brave has come a long way. I used it early early on, but stepped away for a bit.

It's now my primary browser on laptop and my S10+

I have used it since initial release for iOS. BAT rewards are cool though I’m not sure how they calculate it. I would get 5-10 BAT at the beginning but now am averaging 20-40. No change in my usage and I usually just use it for YouTube.

So far I like it, it doesn't block ads on Twitch like ABP and UBO though.

It’s built on the same Chromium architecture and can use all Chrome extensions. The only issue I have had is that it that some of the security settings piss off certain websites.

How is it compared to DuckDuckGo? DDG has been my primary for a while now.

ETA:

So far is a thousand times better than DDG. Why the hell have I been using DDG?

So DuckDuckGo is a search engine (website). Brave is a browser (software that lives on and runs on your computer) like Firefox, Chrome, or Internet Explorer.

I installed it today. My only dislike so far is I can't cast from my computer to my chromecast on the TV. I guess they will iron that bug out.

I'd say the comparison is similar to switching from Chevrolet to Coca Cola.

Try going into the browser settings and activating "Media Router."

This feature uses the Media Router component to enable Chromecast in the browser.
