I am told by a friend who is a Best Buy salesman that Sony is going to have some really nice price drops in the next week. The 75" X90J may drop below the $1,500 mark and the 65" X90J may dip to $999. We'll see.
I bought a 77" A80J OLED in June when it dropped to $3499 and be damned if it didn't drop 3 months later to its current $2999 price. That TV is was a bargain at $3499 and a dang steal for sure at $2999.

TCL 6 Series (mini LED) seems like a bargain for $1299 currently at Best Buy.
All the YouTube TV content creators have been waxing poetically about it relative to some of the more expensive sets like the Samsung QN90.

I got the Vizio P series last year. Really like it. You really do have to calibrate it, but the settings are readily available on rtings.com

Best Buy open boxes are the absolute best deals, as you can negotiate with them in store. One salesmen even told me that some managers are more eager than others to move inventory.

Please update us on which TV you picked and your evaluation of it.

So after much thought, I think I am going to go with the Samsung QN84A. It's the same as the QN85A but for the speakers, per specs. It's also a "holiday TV," which rtings doesn't like.
That said, I'm concerned about the reflection and glare on the Sony. The TV is going in a living room with a good bit of natural light, so it is either get the Sony with true black but worry about reflection/glare, or get the Samsung with less-than-true blacks but a brighter picture and better reflection resistance. I think we are going with the Samsung. I've found that if you are spending less than $2,500.00 on a 75" TV, you pretty much just have to pick which flaw you don't have a problem with.

That is a solid update. I'll be in the market soon. I'll start my savings account now so that I can have enough in a year.

Update after a few days of using the TV. We are happy with it. I am still playing with the settings to get the picture right, but the TV has a solid picture overall and motion is really smooth. I am happy I went with Samsung over the Sony because there is virtually zero reflection or glare on the screen.
The only negative I have found at this point is there is blooming at very extreme angles on a very dark screen, but it's not a problem at 90% of the viewing angles. Happy with the purchase for now.

I had a qn85a for a few days (prior to getting an insane deal on a Sony oled, so I returned the Samsung) and was very pleased with it. I think it’s one of the best TVs on the market.

if you bump the price a couple of Hundred, I got a 75in Sony Bravia for 1799.
I helped a friend mount this TV this weekend. Wasn't impressed with the picture quality.
