Nice, I'm paying for 1gig on charter and only seeing 4-500 if I'm lucky. I'll pay a little more if it works better we stream everything and have about 60 devices total hooked up in my house

save the money and get 300Mbps. You'll get 375Mbps up/down all day every day.

They said I can get a promotional price that won't change for 80 bucks a month for the 1gig supposed to be 1200 up and down Imma go for that. 400 seemed like it had trouble keeping up in my house sometimes should get the package delivered tomorrow. Was already paying 65 for charter so it's 15 bucks more and also gave a 150 dollar visa gift card for switching

$80 is the standard price, not promo. $65 for 500Mbps. $55 for 300Mbps. You get rewards for installation of any of them. You can change speeds at any time.

you better put some reminders on the calendar for that one! its almost impossible to get.

they kept telling me 'you have to wait for 90 days to call if you haven't gotten it' everytime i called to ask where it was

at 91 days i called again and they said 'too late, you had to call within 90 days'

thats the only downside, but when i moved after only having it for a year, when i was setting up the new service i bitched about my experience and they said 'no problem we'll give you 4 free months for the incovenience' 4x80 = 320 so i took that deal and sure enough, i got four $0 bills before i started getting billed for $80.

if i were you, i would ask if that is an option instead of the gift card and if so, tell them you'd rather have the free months over the gift card offer. WAAAAAAY less hassle for you to chase it down and you start saving instantly.

I didn't have to do anything and it was mailed to me in a few weeks. Mine was $300 too

Glad I'm not the only prepper on here! I have a window AC unit plugged into an EcoFlow backup powered by a solar panel or 2 and then I have a TV, internet and 1 wall side plugged into an Anker C1000 backup. However, my internet is TMobile 5g which is also a prepper move cause Ida showed it'll take down all our fiber lines from downed trees.

i got a whole house surge protector, surge protector in my server closet and knock on wood, so far i've had no downtime. at worst i lose my extra monitors but since i'm on a laptop, even on a virtual session there may only be a hiccup of a few seconds while the screen redraws on the laptop.

i have a flat roof and i'm highly intersted in adding a couple solar panels myself.

how is tmobile internet? what kind of througput?

Damn they just delivered the package already that is crazy fast delivery wasn't expecting it until later today. I'll connect it and run some speed tests in a little bit thanks for all the input I went with the 1gig package to start.

I don't have anything fancy and actually just have 2 foldable solar panels from ecoflow. Think I have 1x the 160w (cheap) and the 1x 400w foldable from ecoflow (not that cheap). Can use when camping though.

Very situational and where you're located. For my home, I usually get 200-400 mbps down and usually only 30-60up. But it works for my house with 2 adults and 3 kids streaming constantly in summer and with 3 cameras always recording.

Some speed tests taken I can say that it's dramatically improved everything vs charter 1gig package. Ran three tests on all devices these are the average results

Att modem/router:

Att modem/router with Google Mesh:

Speeds from ATT to Samsung S24 Ultra Phone:

Speeds to wife's iPhone 15 Pro Max:

Average over time on Charter with Mesh:

Cool thing is I was able to hardwire the kids Xbox and living room TV so they get full blast and are lag free. Hopefully it stays this way. Everything was very easy to install.

you wont regret it for the unlimited data and the comparable UP/DOWN speeds alone

i *HATED* being gated on my upload speeds and the shitty monthly arbitrary data cap 'blockbuster late fee' crap comcast pulled.

essentially comcast was like 'we're going to be as unfriendly as possible to anyone wanting to set up ANY type of server/hosting at home and make their life miserable'.

and i'm with you burke, i hard wire as much as possible. just at a point in my life where the occasional WiFi hiccup annoys the shite out of me.

and yes, the wifi is mostly 'good enough' but that doesn't take into account wifi degradation/problems from the router that seem to happen from time to time where i have to soft-reboot my wifi using the ATT app.

for work, tv watching & xbox-ing, i don't want no shite.

So far so good, TV seems to work faster all together. YouTube plays instantly and at highest resolution. 8k streams no bufferering or jittery vid I'm liking this. Feels like I came out of the stone age very happy so far the 1gig package seems worth it
