Very curious about locals.
Also that 12Mbps speed has me curious if it will be a higher quality picture than Vue.

Agreed. Vue's issue with locals is fine for now, but when they come to New Orleans, I'm not paying $10 more a month for a service I already have for free.

my only concern with services like this is the ability to dvr. We rarely watch tv shows live and depend on the dvr. How do you handle this with a streaming only service?

Vue has a DVR. It's all "cloud" based though. The actual mechanics are that you basically tag an airing as recorded and you access that file on their servers whenever you play it. So It's essentially video on demand, but by tagging it as recorded you get to bypass the annoying commercials.

When you first tag a show as recorded will it automatically do it for the first airings of that show going forward?

Depends on implementation. Vue does not do this well. It just records both new and used. And I can't record just the LSU game, it records all college football games and throws them under one show. That's a big pain in the arse. I anticipate DTV Now to be better.

Yeah that sounds really annoying.

Launch may have been pushed back. Seeing the Nov 4th date pulled from leaks.

Sweet! Better deal than Sony Vue
AT&T CEO: DirecTV Now Streaming Service Will Cost $35 a Month
AT&T’s upcoming DirecTV Now streaming service is going to cost $35 a month, revealed AT&T chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson during a panel at the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ.D Live conference in Laguna Beach, Calif., Tuesday. The package will include more than 100 channels, he said.
how do you figure this deal is better than vue when you don't even know the channel listing?

i wonder what kind of deals they will have with their fiber service. Tehy just laid the lines in my neighborhood.

i dont know but i sure do regret getting DTV 6 months ago and having 18 months left on my contract. Probably got it about a month before Vue was released to the masses.

Agreed. It's the same price as the 2nd tier plan for Vue that includes all sports packages. I'll be shocked if DTVNow will have the complete sports package on their lowest tier.

Wouldn't surprise me. Hell, wouldn't even surprise me if it never happened because this ATT + TW merger is gonna get squashed.

My contract is finally up in March. First year pricing wasn't bad, second year it has gotten out of control. Never really had any issues with the service just the price and the fess they tack on to the monthly bill. With all of the cord cutting options now there is no point to have it anymore though.

It's still more reliable and user friendly than TV internet, don't let anyone fool you.
The question you have to ask yourself is going to be this, is that tradeoff worth paying triple the price? More and more people are deciding that it's not.

It is to me. Just sucks that I can't bring my Vue service with me. I understand why they do what they do, but whatever.

It's worth it to me too. I'm all about the chord cutting.
I'm confused about what you mean by this though. Why can't you continue using Vue service?

I mean that it has to stay on my home network
