AT&T’s internet-only, no-cable TV package will launch in weeks

This type of service getting more competition is only good. I hope they get to a point where we can pick our own channels at a fixed price:
BGR
AT&T’s long-rumored DirecTV service is going to launch next month, the company has revealed. AT&T chief Randall Stephenson announced the news as part of a discussion surrounding AT&T’s $80 billion takeover of Time Warner. With the promise to provide a traditional cable viewing experience, but without needing a cable box and for a “radically lower” price, this could be a big move.
Details on the service are still unclear, but rumors suggest that the price will be somewhere around $40-50 for a fairly complete package of channels. Disney channels like ESPN and ABC will be available, and we also know that HBO and Cinemax will be available. Since AT&T acquired Time Warner this weekend, you can also expect Time Warner’s full lineup of channels (including HBO) to be available.

Awesome. If it's better than Vue, then I'm on board. Sucks that it won't make it's way to the PS4 app store, but I guess I can start putting more use out of my Fire TV

If they make the guide and menus look the same as Direct TV, I'm in.
Although they'd be losing around $100 a month on customers like me who already pay for Direct.

I didn't read the article. The problem with most of these internet only services is the fact that you need internet.
In my area the only provider worth getting internet from is a cable company. I doubt they like the idea of me skipping out on their channels only to get them from Sling, PlaystationTV, ATT, etc....
They already want to cap us or charge us for more data. No way they will let this fly.

I know you can't say much, but if I invested in the fire tv for Vue... and already have that money sunk... will I be happy or disappointed with my firetv investment.
If you can't or don't want to say if available on firetv that's completely understandable

I've been using Sling for about a month and it's still got some kinks. I'd be in if it's a better product.

I used Sling for ahwile, their app at first was buggy but they seemed to be working out the kinks, Seems like they are still having issues.
Wonder how Sony will react if AT&T starts gutting their customers.

honestly im not an expect in the updated cord cutting stuff on the market, so i cant speak to the Vue 100%. i did a quick search and saw a video on you tube to see an example and i was really impressed.
i actually like the interface of the Vue better, however i will say the DTV product is not final and they are still updating it
FYI its not the same direct guide, its more like what you see on the Vue. The live channels are in alphabetical order.
if they make some of the changes i suggested then it will be a very good product.

I hope this "takeover" gets squashed, way too much power going to AT&T.

Same. I'm seeing stuff from people who have had their training on it, but nothing definite. Looks like it will have 3 packages, be available on several different devices, have a could DVR, and be out Nov. 4th.
All the people that said they had training on it said that prices were blacked out. And a few said that they were instructed not to mention it to a customer if they could get a good satellite signal.
I am switching to gigapower this weekend and I wonder if they will offer bundling discounts.

Jealous. It's still not in my area and my only alternative is Cox Cable w/ a max speed of 300mb/s down and 30 mb/s up.
I signed up as well so thanks for the link!

Sweet! Better deal than Sony Vue
AT&T CEO: DirecTV Now Streaming Service Will Cost $35 a Month
AT&T’s upcoming DirecTV Now streaming service is going to cost $35 a month, revealed AT&T chairman and CEO Randall Stephenson during a panel at the Wall Street Journal’s WSJ.D Live conference in Laguna Beach, Calif., Tuesday. The package will include more than 100 channels, he said.
This price point is a significant departure from the company’s previous stance, when it suggested that it would launch a premium product that wasn’t looking to undercut existing pay TV services. Stephenson argued that it can afford this lower price point because DirecTV Now doesn’t require operator-owned set-top boxes, satellite dishes, and customer service home visits.
