The have been stringing us along for a year on this, I still think they are.
AT&T is launching ultra-fast internet service in parts of the New Orleans area, including sections of St. Tammany Parish. Those in the service area can get a 1-gigabit internet connection on the company's 100 percent fiber network for $90 a month.
The New Orleans area is one of 67 communities where AT&T is making its fastest internet service available. It now markets its ultra-fast service to more than 3 million locations, of which over 500,000 are apartments and condominium units. In the New Orleans area, there are more than 30 apartments and condo properties with the AT&T fiber service, the company said. It is on track to exceed the 12.5 million locations by mid-2019.

I just got Uverse Fiber in Nashville according to the dudes that installed it. GigaBlahBlah something.
I upgraded to their fastest internet for free with a cell phone bundle and my electronics flyyyy. Watch ESPN/ESPN3 stream on my smart TV is glitch free and very HD. Wasn't like that before.

They're actually building this out right now in my neighborhood in Walker.

They've been deploying it in the Abita, Mandeville, Covington area for several months now. I have a few friends that have it. They dug my neighborhood and put in conduit and new hand-holes... but not available for me yet

Not that I download things often, but my ATT has some of the slowest download speeds in the history of download speeds. Took around 12 hours to download a game on my xbox.
Absolutely unreal.

I agree with that but if we can get these speeds I might re-adjust my opinion.
at&t gigapower speed test

doesnt it have a cap though? they offer it out here in jax but comcast has no data limits and 75mbps is enough for me. Goggle fiber was looking at our city as a possible spot but that fell thru
. Man competiton would have been nice since comcast has had the monopoly on high speed for so long out here.

Should gig internet be called ultra fast still? I mean we got 10 gig here in Chatty. Gig is so last decade.

I still have data caps. They doubled them, in what I assume is an attempt to "make people happy" before going to this 1-gig service in the next decade.

Sorry I was on my phone when I sent that. I remember reading AT&T dropped data caps on subscribers that have the Gigabit service.

Wow...nice! Although $90 is a little too much for what I use internet for, that is a sweet deal. Maybe when 4k streaming becomes more of a big deal I'll grab that.

I've got it in the Atlanta area. They currently call it GigaPower and it costs me $70/month.

LUS currently offers up to 2 gigs, but the price jumps up to $300/ month for that
It's a few hundred for 10 gig here too. Comcast announced 2 gig here a while back to try and compete with EPB, they wanted some crazy amount like $500 install and $500 a month for it. Our gig was like $70 a month at that time. So EPB was like nah, you aren't beating our speeds in Gig City, 10 gig is now possible for all residential customers.
