AT&T Came by my house last night and said they will have up to 1G in my area soon.

Is it worth me switching from Spectrum to them? I'm currently at 60mbs with Spectrum for about $55 a month. They said they could do a 1G for $100 or 100mbs for $60.

Lucky SOB.
I would love to finally be able to permanently end my association with cox cable.

I get AT&T fiber for $70. You get a good discount if you have them as your cell phone provider.

Even without them as your cell provider or TV provider, it's 80$ for unlimited 1g service. Pretty good on ATT.

Apparently ATT has fiber to a pole 4 blocks from my house but everything from that pole is copper!

it all depends on how you use your internet? Do you use streaming or regular satellite /cable? If you stream how many persons in your household? if you have regular cable already then i would probably just go with 100mbps. If you stream and have a household of 4 or more persons and AT&T plan has unlimited data then i would recommend that. just Getting the 1gb download speed is not really worth it unless you have legitimate reasons for having it.

I cut the cord a few years ago, so all we do is stream.

I signed up for their gigapower when they came to my old hood...it was fast when all the conditions were perfect, but my experience is I would not go with them again. You have to use their hardware, which is a modem/router all in one and it absolutely SUCKS. Always dropping 5G and 2.4 would a lot of times just not connect.

I've made this post before but the TLDR is: worth every penny. Got it for $90 vs $80 and I can use my own router with no problems. Modem is theirs.

They just ran fiber in my neighborhood. How much is the cost after the promo? Our would be $70 for 12 months. Currently paying $90 for 150 Mbps from Cox

I really don't know. I don't think they had all the specifics since it wasn't up yet. They were trying to get me to switch to their current 18mbs. I told them if they couldn't beat what I had there was no point. That's when they started telling me about how we will have a gig option in the area soon.

I've had it here in KC since we moved here two years ago. Haven't had any issues with it.
Here is a current speed test I just did. I usually see it in the 900s.

It's not as simple as using your own router "no problem"

I only pay 77 for 1k from them. Why are they trying to rip you off?

Does their router/modem combo have a Gig ethernet port? If so, it actually is.

I looked into it and started to get a headache, something about pass through then logging into dashboard and doing something. It's been discussed before on this board...I'm pretty sure it's not as simple as plugging in your own router and partying. Also, people have said it cuts speeds in half.

Yeah but let's see how long "soon" is.
if not it took almost 12 months from the time they started laying conduit till turning it on.

I work in IT and have a lot of dealings with AT&T through work and I'm not a big fan of the company. After the flood Cox had our internet up in a day or 2 (we didn't flood but about half of our neighborhood did). AT&T was 2 weeks. A lot of people bitch about Cox but it's been rock solid for me in 5 years here. I just don't like the constant price increases or the data cap because we stream everything.
