So I went fishing today. Did t wear the Apple Watch. Left it on the charger at home. Got home, picked it up and was hot af. Looked closer and saw that it looked like this. Series 3

Has this happened to anyone else? Do I call the apple number to notify or is there a better way?

Call AppleCare support, you will probably need to have an escalation to a senior advisor and explain what happened, they may require you to have an appointment in the store as battery issues can have strange restrictions.

This happened to my series 1. Known battery issue. Happened about three years after purchase. They told me I was SOL as I “shouldn’t have expected this watch to last forever”. I had the battery replaced as it is a pretty easy fix, but none of the after market batteries lasted very long and I just broke down and bought another watch.

Same here, only I just trashed the watch since it was so old. I have not replaced it yet and just have an analog watch, now.

I tweeted apple support. Went to DMs. They are gonna have someone call me. I’ll update with results but don’t expect anything.

Apple is usually pretty good about this with replacements and such. Had an issue with the airpod pros on just the left ear and they sent me 2 new buds.

Not saying they're perfect but usually multi-trillion dollar companies tend to just "let em have it" so you remain a customer for the future.

ETA: Thinking about this more though, I highly doubt the Series 3 is still in production so if they don't have a pile of em to hand out (or they already have), they may not be able to replace it. They're probably not gonna "upgrade ya" to the Series 5 for free.

Tell them you were wearing it while flying on a commercial airline. That should get their attention.

Spent an hour and 15 min on phone. They are having me take it to Best Buy to be repaired for free. I explained to them it wasn’t repairable. They said let them decide that.

Ridiculous. Tell them that’s not good enough and your lawyer will be in touch

Sounds like bestbuy is going to box it up and ship it for you. If they are saying that the repair is for free, the may have issued what’s called a CS code (last time I knew they had been tightening up on these). It’s been a bit, so I don’t remember if Best Buy can see a CS code or not. Essentially they are looking that you didn’t tamper with something before replacing it, unfortunately repair fraud happens.

EDIT: As it’s likely a swollen/vented battery, a trained facility needs to specially box and ship the repair/replacement for legal reasons

I have a CS code. Spent an hour at Best Buy with them on the phone with apple support. For some reason their software was not letting them submit the ticket so I’m now sending it to apple via a special box they mailed to me.

It’s definitely a swollen battery you can see it.

Sucks that it happened and that you had to spend so much time dealing with it, but the CS code process exists for such circumstances
