Don’t have a ton to spend, so series 3 is not in the question.

Series 1 will be at Target for $180
Series 2 right now at B.B. for $270

Processor is same minus GPS in 2, which I doubt I really need (tests show 1 is usually a couple seconds faster).
Screen for 1 is 450 nits and 2 is 1000 (iphone 7 is about 625 for reference)
Battery is larger in 2, but powers brighter screen. (2 lasts a little longer)
Waterproof in 2 vs splash proof in 1

It looks like waterproof and brightness are biggest differences.

My goal is just to see notifications, calls, etc because I can’t really pull a phone out during a 12 hour shift unless an emergency. Maybe add a quick trip to the gym each day. I would like it to last from wake up until bed each day.

So is the 2 worth $90 more? Plus, my wife is getting one so it would be $180 more total.

Go for the 2 because future updates will make the 1 useless and worth it for only $90

Shouldn’t they become useless at the same time since the processor is identical, except for the additional GPS unit?

YES!

GPS built in and the waterproof features are worth the extra $90.

Looks like it might be.

Says the deal may be available in stores though. Was it only on the gold with the pink band?

It’s been damn near impossible to find the damn gold with blue band my wife wants for Xmas. Everywhere is out.

Btw the series 2 is waterproof as well as the series 3.

Link?

Pretty sure the 2 is basically the same exact watch as the 1 but with a little better processor.

No link needed. I’m wearing a series 2 as I type and it’s 50m submersible.

People confuse Series 1 with the original Apple Watch. The correct order is

OG Apple Watch
Series 1
Series 2
Series 3

Series 1 and 2 are identical except for the GPS and Waterproofness.

Series 1 is water resistant. You can get caught in the rain or wash your hands, but you can’t go swimming with it.

This is a really simple question -

do you want to go swimming with your Apple Watch? Do you want to be able to go for a run and track your GPS a location without carrying your phone?

If you don’t care about either one, but the Series 1. If you do, buy the series 2.

If you want LTE, buy the series 3. (I’m not sure if the processor was upgraded in the series 3, but 1 and 2 are exactly the same)

I have a Series 2, my wife has a Series 1. She has the smaller frame one as well.

My battery lasts about 3x as long or more. My wife barely makes I?t through the day, with <20% battery. Mine is rarely less than 80%.

The waterproof-ness is also great. No need to worry about getting I?t wet or submerged.

If you’re a runner, the GPS is nice if you don’t want to carry your phone with you.

I will say the little “eject water” feature rarely gets the water out. Have to shake my watch after trying it over and over.

Wrong. Series 2 is waterproof. Did you not see a single commercial when it came out? That is the main feature they kept highlighting...showing people swimming with it, etc.

Have worn mine(series 2) swimming many times...no issues.

Thanks everyone. Ended up getting the 3 from Kohl’s for basically $60 more than the 1 after Kohl’s Bucks. Just need to buy Christmas gifts through them until the bucks are used up.

When did you get it? Online or in store? I’ve been looking but seems to be out of stock online.

I had it in my cart for a couple days. It said out of stock. This morning I refreshed my cart and it didn’t. I was able to put everything through and got an email with my order number. I think they are either pacing the sales or audited actual inventory.
