Why would they want to dabble in low margin business like cloud storage?

They do, don't they?
I can purchase more iCloud storage from my settings for a low cost. Seems like they're just giving that money to Google.

They don't have to invest any capital in the infrastructure and maintaining it. They just skim some off the top.

Meanwhile, 99.999999999999999999999999% of Apple’s user base doesn’t care. Try again.

God damn you are dense.

That's a laptop, it's unusable without the type cover (once owned a sp2)

Edit: not even mentioning the HUGE price difference between an iPad and surface

Is this an Apple fan pointing out a difference in price?

I hate my surface pro. Hate it.

That being said I have an iPad I haven’t picked up in years.

With bigger phones I don’t care about a tablet.

Give me a laptop, watch and phone.

I'm sure most users are more interested in the UX than how their data is stored.

You should also make a thread about apple using Samsung displays in iPhones. That should give some insight of how dumb this thread is.

I don't know why people are so high on Apple's UX. I don't deal with Apple products often (thankfully), but seems like every time I do I run into some awful UX problem.

The latest was with my uncle's iPad. He kept getting those annoying popups in Safari on legit sites (weather.com, ebay, etc). I tried to install an ad-blocker, but he had never used his AppleID in the app store before, so I had to go through some "review" process. This involved filling out his name, payment method, etc. I filled the form out, but it kept saying the form wasn't complete. It didn't say anything about what part was incomplete, it just said it wasn't complete. Turns out the incomplete part of the form wasn't even on the fricking form. I had to log in to apple's website and fill in some missing address info there. All just to install a free app. Ridiculous.

The three largest public cloud providers are Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. They account for nearly three quarters of the public cloud market.

I'm not sure if Apple still hosts some iCloud services on Azure but they did at one point in the past. Netflix hosts everything from AWS and Dropbox uses them as well. It makes more sense for them to rent from the larger companies that have the infrastructure to do so.

Some are trying to divest from having to rely on another provider. Dropbox, for instance, is building out their own infrastructure to reduce their reliance on AWS.

As I'm sure you know, Dropbox is going public soon. Ticker symbol will be $DBX. I guess they figured $DROP had too much headline potential.
