Besides, I don't have to worry about catching headphone/ear pod wires on things when i'm walking around.

You do know that every phone has bluetooth already, right?

Apple care question. If I choose to buy through Apple and get apple care... I shouldn't need insurance, right? If I'm reading correctly, broken screens are $29 and all other replacements are $99?

You're right. I havent used a set of headphones that weren't apple ear buds since I bought my first iPod in 2003. I have 8 pair now. I guess I'll just have to use the ear pods that come in the box. FML.

You should get a decent pair of earbuds and you'll quickly realize how shitty the apple ones are. Hell, I can point you to a $8 pair that will make your Apple earbuds sound like they came from a Cracker Jack box.

Remember the uproar over the switch for the old power plug to Lightening cord?

Didn't bother me, liked the reversible cord. I wouldn't mind a switch to USB-C honestly.

This bothers me because I like charging and using wired headphones.

Correct. The only thing Apple Care won't help with is if your phone is lost or stolen - not sure that insurance would cover that event either. I have saved a shite load of money through the years buying Apple Care. Maybe it's my imagination but you also get treated much better at the Genius Bar if you ever need to go there.

$6.54

I don't think you want to post your address for shipping, though.

Good to know. Cheaper to buy directly from Apple then. And way cheaper screen replacements... A friend of mine paid $230 last week for a screen fix.

If I drive to Apple Store, will instantly fix or replace phones?

Yeah, probably. IP 67 is rated to temporary immersion in water. So a few seconds would probably be okay. Wouldn't leave it under there for long.

One meter (3.3ft) for 30 minutes. Samsung is IP 68 which is 1.5meter (5ft) for 30 min.

Just killed LifeCase.

I *think* that with a Genius Bar appointment they can do it in a few minutes. They did at the store in Dallas last time my wife broke hers.

You need an appointment. Do it online.

AppleCare replaced a water damaged phone for me for free even though it is suppose to be a $70 fee. They do treat AppleCare customers well.

37 years old. Use headphones weekly though not daily at work. Have used wired only when the BT need recharging. Have not bought a pair of wired headphones since the Beats in ear models I got went kaput on me several years back.

Even prior to that, I only bought cheap wired ones as my main headphones are all BT.

Wired headphones are stupid. BT headphones-quality one's-are incredibly inexpensive. To the point where I own multiple pairs/brands.

Wired headphones suck for shite like working out, yard work, etc. any physical activity use case ends with wireless headphones being the superior product.

There are several people here who prefer luxury products who don't realize listening to music on an iPhone or most steaming services means they're already losing sound and audio quality. Their headphones don't make up for it. They may sound better but the vast majority of consumers aren't buying for premium quality sound.

This is overblown bullshite.

are you sure about that answer? i have many audiopile friends (duh i live in nashville) and i assure you they know every single component intimately between their ears and the music.

eta these are the same people debating the differences between vinyl 'rips' vs 100% pure FLAC rips.

I'm not due for a new one for another year, but this has me rethinking switching from Apple to Android. The main things I was thinking of switching for were larger capacity, waterproof, and better battery life. I guess I'll be buying a 7 for my wife in a year and see if I want one as well.

anyone who says vinyl is better is an idiot. They may prefer the vinyl sound, but as far as 1:1 recreation of what the sound was in the sound booth, lossless digital is SOOOO much closer, or at least can be. The Loudness Wars really screwed everything up.

a lot of people put these on the apple earbuds and have found success with keeping them from falling out. hopefully they work for the AirPods.
