Anyone eyeing any Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals on TVs?

I've been putting off upgrading my TV for a while, I'm likely to be in the 65" range. Just wondering if anyone sees any good deals out there.

I am really liking the Sony 900H in 65 inch for $999 at Best Buy and it’s twin 90CH at Costco for about the same. I don’t recommend going over 65 in this series or even the 950H series. Wait till next year for better 75-85s next year — particularly the 8Ks.
I’m looking at the 65 for my master BR.
This Sony 900H in 65 is the touted model for PlayStation 5 because it has HDMI 2.1 and optimum resolution at that size.
If you go cheaper for a 65 you will be sacrificing a lot of quality.

Is that the same as X900H and do you have a link? Also how does that compare to the TCL 65R635? Thank you

Yes, same model. The numbers you look at are the “series” or levels of quality. And the letter at the end denotes the year of manufacture.
Sony series start, I think, at the X750H series (maybe less). The H denotes a 2020 model. A G model was a 2019 product.
X750H, then X800H, x850H, x900H, x950H then you go into the upper tier Sony series of A9H, Z8H, Z9H etc.
And, then Costco designates their equivalent models by dropping a 0 and adding the C — such as the X900H at Best Buy is an X90CH at Costco.
The biggest jump in quality is from the 800/850 series up to 900/950 series. The biggest difference in those series is that the 900 (or 90C) is best for gaming with the HDMI 2.1 outputs. The 950H has a little better processor but only HDMI 2.0 outputs.
The really big jump comes at the A9H series and then the 8Ks. I am told that the newer full-array LEDs are narrowing the gap on OLED and may equal surpass OLED in next year or two.

The TCL mini-LED series 6 is a good Made in China TV but is much harder to adjust in the home. It is a pretty good deal but there is a noticeable drop off in quality next to Sony and the better Samsungs.
TCL would be a good buy for a second TV in a bedroom or kids room, maybe on patio. You might be disappointed in it for a main den type TV.

More fun facts.
Sony is a Japanese corporation with some but relatively few sets made in Japan. All North American Sony’s are made in Tijuana, Mexico.
Samsung is a South Korean corporation who uses plants all over the world. And Samsung’s for the U.S? You guessed it — Tijuana, Mexico.
TCLs are all Chinese made.
Of course, almost all TVs have components that are “all made in Taiwan.”

I bought the 85" Sony from Costco yesterday. It'll be delivered Monday and I just finished putting the mount on the wall. My previous living room TV is a Samsung 55" LED edge lit 2010 model, so this will be a big upgrade. I'll try to post a review later on.

Really appreciate the detailed information. Do you have a link to the X900H deal from Best Buy? It looks like it's $1,400, but maybe I'm missing something from Cyber Monday.

It will be a Black Friday special if I recall. Go on the BB site and look up the Black Friday ad — not today’s specials. It should show the price as $999. But when you click on the item it shows $1399 but that the special price is not yet available.
I just checked again and it is listed at $999. You might take a screenshot to have to save it. Like I just did.

Thanks a lot, was able to find it earlier. Will do a little more research tomorrow on this model (and surround sound) but I really appreciate it.

I’m between the Sony 900 or Samsung q70 for 1100.

Best Buy is now listing the Sony 900H in 65 at $999 as of today.

Go for the 90CH at Costco. Better chance of them having it in stock or on order and a much longer warranty (5 years) if you use your Costco card.

I actually bought the TCL 6 series a few weeks ago and was severely disappointed. Motion was poor and choppy, audio had a noticeable delay from the picture, and the TV kept restarting and freezing up when I tried doing basic things like launching Netflix. It's possible I had a dud.
I returned it and got the Sony X900H and wow, such a difference. The picture is much better than the TCL and motion is super smooth. The apps run smoothly and I like the UI of android TV.
ETA: got the 65" X900h from Bestbuy on Bluebonnet for $999, They still had a few in stock yesterday.

Drove to Hammond this morning as they had one in stock and by the time I got there at 10:25, somebody bought it. Wasn’t thrilled, but it’s my own fault for waiting until today.

The updates on the Sony are also smooth and glitch-free.

Sony has a good customer reputation for a reason. Stay at 900 (90CH) series and above. Enjoy.
