Any Cox customers ever have success downgrading their internet plan with special pricing?

I currently have their 300 plan and am finding that is overkill for what I need. I'm currently paying their introductory rate offer, but to downgrade to their 100 plan it would cost more than what I'm currently paying. Do I play the threaten to leave game to get a better rate on their 100 plan? ATT uverse is available in my area so I could always use that as leverage.

I switched to uverse over 2 years ago and couldn't be happier. My intro rate was over last month, and they beat my intro offer. Uverse 300 w/ showtime, digital home phone and unlimited high speed optical interwebbs , only 115.00 a month. I hate COX.

They have gotten pretty tough on lowering prices. One dude argued with me for an hour about how terrible AT&T would be for internet.

At work, nobody has had any success with the cancel or drop my price. They don't care anymore. There normal response now is...

Even Sirius has gotten tougher on the cancel or lower my bill. Thing about Sirius is that I only use it about half the time and could easily cancel it without missing a beat.

Not sure I can live with AT&T internet.

I have always been able to get a lower price from ATT just from bitching and threatening to leave. They have been pretty stubborn lately. I am paying $60.00 for 30 MBS and that is stand alone internet. Their response is "you would get a cheaper price if you bundled". I am waiting to see if the price goes down once fiber gets in my area.

Tried to downgrade from 300mbs to 100mbs plan,... 100 was going to cost me an additional $15/month. Dude could not explain exactly why... ended up staying at 300 and he knocked $20/month off for a year.

How much was the 100mbs plan gonna cost?

Were there any deals if you bundled TV with internet?

Unless it's fiber, he's right.

For Cox, I pay $60 a month for the second fastest connection. I think its normally $100.

I'm happy with that deal. They've been putting it on my account for two year increments (no contract). When it's about to increase, I call and they give me the same deal again.

I'm not maximizing my savings, because we use UVerse for TV. I really like the wireless boxes. Once we get fiber in our area from AT&T, I'll most likely switch to that.

Here is the problem. They won't let me pay that amount.

I'm on the second tier and now paying $90.

They won't drop it. I agree the regular AT&T would be a nightmare compared to cable but I'm almost willing to take a 1 year hit to get them to start me back at the lower price.

I've called a few times now and they simply won't budge.

I pointed out that they were offering new customers less than half what I paid and I have been a loyal customer for 2 decades.

My sister lives not to far from me and she has AT&T with no streaming issues, so I might give it a try one of these days.

For lack of a better explanation, thats crap

I would be so pissed if I were in your shoes. The only thing I can tell you to do is keep asking for manager after manager until they finally give in. (maybe you've done that already)

I'm not the only one. I've heard from just about everyone I know with cox that they have really cracked down on the cancel or lower my rate move.

Might be a few of their sales staff that can be bullied a bit but it seems that they call the bluff now, whereas in the past they immediately caved.

Sirius used to cave immediately. They still cave, but they spend 15 minutes explaining that I had an introductory rate and it expired. And then they explain it again. Then I point out I only use it about half the time and can live without it, then they lower it.

Cox knows I have no other equal option.

I think it's all in how you word your vague intentions...choose the order new service menu option and when the person comes on tell them you're not sure if you're in the right place but you're looking to make some financial cutbacks and want to explore options...the person will transfer you to wherever and use the same story...looking to make financial cutbacks, ATT just emailed you a offer for x amount of dollars, I did this 2 days ago and got 30 bucks knocked off

I was told by a Cox employee that if you're married, you can cancel and reinstate with spouses name to get new customer packages. Worth a try.

Switch your service to another person in your household. You should get the special pricing.
A Cox rep told me to do that.

They just ran the AT&T fiber lines through my front yard over the weekend..

I don't think I've ever been so excited to call Cox and threaten to cancel my internet, and then actually go through with it.

Offered the contractors running the lines a beer
