Did I know that?
I just need a phone that looks good, works, easy to use, nice apps and great camera. iPhone-X and whatever new they put out does that for me.

As with all general broad statements like I made. There are tons of exceptions.

Maybe, probably. I think we discussed it at US
iPhone is great for that, I won't argue there. My argument is that Android phones, particularly the Pixel line which runs pure Android, is just as great these days.

Well I am a Android fan too, but I have the Pixel 2 xl and it has no headphone jack, no upgradable storage and is pure Android. So it looks like Android is copying Apple.
Google maybe.
S9+ here. I have a headphone jack, expandable storage, and the bloatware has been cut down quite a bit. The user experience is just as fast/smooth as my friends with iPhone X.
That's part of the beauty for me with Android -- you get to pick your flavor. Apple forces you to choose its products exactly as they think you should have it.

Used Android for awhile but IOS is just easier.
Agree.

Apple TV and using my IPad to change the channel is sweet.
t00f, tell me more. How does one change the channel from an ipad to the Apple TV? I'm really interested in getting my girls more comfortable with selecting their own crap to watch from the apple tv. Right now, my wife and I are like their little app/tv show/movie slaves.

My android costs under 200 bucks and has more features than I will ever use. And I can change the battery by popping off the back and slipping a new one in.

On the Ipad I just do a finger sweep from the top right down to pop up the widget menu and select the apple tv icon. It bring up a virtual remote and I can change channels on directv now or open an app very quickly. Same on the Iphone.

Thanks t00f. I wanna try that out tonight using my phone and with Hulu Live TV. I know that DTVNow is better with the left and right swipes going traditionally "up" and "down" like an old school TV channel changer but curious to see what it does with Hulu Live TV, etc.

No issues using Netflix, Hulu, AMC app, Directv Now or anything else.

Yet, you can do probably 10 times more on your Android FWIW.
What are the use cases?
I've used both platforms in the past. For me, personally, it's almost six of one, a half dozen of the other. I'm currently on the iphone x, and I'm happy for now.

All iPhones run on the same hardware. That means that games and apps are likely to be much more optimized.
Outside of that, I have idea why anyone would buy an iphone in 2018. It has to be either 1) because it's a status symbol or 2) because they've just never given Android enough of a chance.

I had a Samsung S7 edge at one point and I went back to the iPhone 8plus. The Samsung had a ton of bloatware. I'm pretty sure at one point I had 5 messaging apps to try and replicate iMessage (superior to anything android has, in my opinion).
Then my S7 edge would get bogged down and not be as "snappy" as iOS and that was the final straw for me after 2 years with that. Has android gotten better? Probably but why do I have to wait for Samsung to get less bloaty and android to become more snappy when iOS has been fine in those areas for years.
Not to mention we have apple tvs with apple music, etc. It's all about home integration and ease of use when your married with kids.
I'm sure a lot of you single bumpkins rock android though, that's cool. Different strokes.

Apple sucks for home integration fwiw. They are way behind the smart home game.
Apple TV remote thing is neat but far from unique to iPhone.

I meant more of the ecosystem. I use Alexa for controlling things but the synchronization between macs, iPhones, Apple TVs, Apple watches and all their respective apps is winning, in my opinion.

Well, I had an Android for three years and moved to the iphone x (in 2017, not 2018), and I would say that neither of these hold true for me. What is funny is that many Android proponents seem to be every but as snobbish as the accusations of snobbery that they cast at iphone users.

Agreed. I have a busy career and a family. There are certain things that I need from my phone and Apple does them well (for now). It's great that Android is better for x customization or y configuration. Unless those things are something absolutely mind blowing that is going to make a material change in my life, they're probably something that I don't have much time for.

S9+ here
I just got the S9+, I had the S8 before that and the nexus 6P before that. It looks like Samsung cleaned up the bloatware that was in the S8. I'm not having any trouble with the S9 at all. I got my wife a note. She loves it.
