Anybody downloaded this and have positive thoughts? Negative?
I just got an update alert on my Pixel and wondering if and when to update.

It's fine. The white status bar/settings are annoyingly bright at night, but it's fine otherwise. Nothing really groundbreaking.

I enjoy it. It's probably not optimized for my budget nexus 5x. At times my phone gets pretty laggy. I did a factory reset and it's running better now.

None of the new features are groundbreaking but they're all improvements.

The fingerprint swipe gesture has been fixed on 8.0 when on portrait mode.

I mean, it's not a groundbreaking fix, but it took care of my OCD .

Got it on my Pixel Saturday morning.

I can't really tell any difference. I haven't tried the picture in picture feature yet.

its improved my pixel battery life a lot. Aside from that, i don't like the changes to the do not disturb mode from the swipe down menu. but thats a small complaint

OnePlus has always been praised for having clean, near-stock software, and a big advantage of this is that updates are much easier to push out. Case in point: the OnePlus 3 has already received Android 8.0 Oreo via the closed beta group, with the newer 3T and 5 receiving it soon as well. Plus, OnePlus is hoping for an Oreo public beta by the end of September.

Updated my 5x a few days ago. It's not a huge departure from nougat, but there are some changes. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to get it if I had nougat already, but I also wouldn't advise against it. I'd agree with the white notification panel being worse than the previous dark but it's not a deal breaker. The ambient semi on screen has less stuff on it now. Probably a personal opinion but I liked it better before too. Pretty much everything else seems to be improved or the same. Updated notification priorities I like. Haven't tried pip mode yet.

I've had it for about a week or so on my Pixel. Battery life seems to be much, much better. I like the new notification badges on icons (like IOS has).

The biggest pain for me is the new Ambient display. Before the update, I would double tap to wake it up to the lock screen. Now, you have to double tap to wake it the new ambient display, then double tap again to get to the lock screen.

Been using it for a few months through the beta program and have had no problems with it whatsoever.

I think that's where we have been for a couple years now. The mobile platforms are so mature now that's there's not much room for innovation anymore.
