It is worth it.

I try to keep my apps to a minimum though. And I figure I'd have to semi-switch to Google Assistant, and I've bought into Echos.

why?

Because the Shield seems like an extraneous device for Nvidia compared to the "part of the strategy" play for Google and Amazon (I don't count Apple as I'll never be "all in" on Apple devices and that's the only time it's worth it).

Google and Amazon going into media/streaming makes completes sense. Nvidia...not so much. It's why I've drifted from the Roku, although out of the non-Googazon parties, I think they are the safest to continue for now.

not really. I think the main reason NVIDIA went in to this is because if you have an nvidia GPU you can "stream play" your video game through the Shield. That gives people the ability to play their desktop games on any TV in the house. And being it runs on Android TV, i dont see why you will lose support being Google develops it.

Any early reviews coming in? I stuck with the pre-order despite some hesitations.

I almost ordered a Fire a few weeks ago but I can't tolerate ads on my home screen. I'm guessing the cube will be no different.

Did they ever fix their relationship with Google and allow their apps?

Set mine up works great picture is good no buffering when streaming faster in menu than my fire sticks. Works cable box and tv. Saying switch to fox news works better than my harmony. It will mute tv if it can't hear you. Seems well worth 90 bucks

Probably Amazon's favorite phrase in the world....

"For $x I can get this in 48 hours? Why the f not?"

sucks that it didn't come with a cable, guess I missed that part when ordering it..Its also my first time using Alexa even though the Tv has it built in...When I tell it to play a show, it automatically goes to the first one in the series..Is there a way to correct that ?

Shockingly easy setup. Connected hdmi cord and it automatically knew my type of tv. All I had to tell it was that i have a samsung soundbar.

Set mine up, was super easy. Love it so far, but a few bugs:

1. My Echo Show is fairly close and it's already confused itself twice
2. I haven't figured out the Cable Box DVR, I think that will be a gap for a bit (Cable Box is a separate device than DVR for the Cube, but mine are combined)
3. Soundbar control not working properly. Says its fine, but it can't control volume. Although I've only tried while in the DVR, so that might be it. Hence #2.

Good thought, but no go. It turned it on and off in testing and played a lower sound. Watching World Cup recordings, so not switching. I'll play with it a bit. I think it's the DVR issue. Nothing seems to work while using the Cable Box DVR
