Budget is $350.

Size is 50" or bigger.

Main usage will be gaming on his not yet purchased Xbox Series X.

He's fourteen.

Anything over $350 cuts into his overall Christmas budget and he doesn't want that to happen for obvious reasons.

I trust this board more than Rtings so what do y'all recommend?

That size and that budget - TCL. I wouldn’t even look at anything else.

TCL or Hisense, whichever has the better series on sale to fit your budget

I have a 50" LG that has been great. Cost $300.

And are you interested in adopting another son? I'm available for adoption if you are buying tvs and xboxes for Christmas.

IMO, you are not getting a TV with a native 120Hz refresh rate at that price range.

Best deal IMO going into this is the Vizio M-series as it supports HDMI 2.1 with VRR.

Costco Vizio M seris 50"

This TV will be on sale on 11/30 for 299.

SlickDeals on the sale

That’s not a true 120hz, will most likely only run at 60hz on XSX

Costco has a 55” Hisense that was $269 as if about a week ago.

My father-in-law has a Hisense that turned every pixel a shade of blue. It's horrendous.

I tried fixing it this weekend by messing with the picture settings, but couldn't get it to go away.

I bought one of the 55” ones from Costco. No problems at all. Great for a bedroom tv.

I got a 55" TCL 4k Roku from Sam's. It's listed at $279 online. Works great for bedroom.
