After market Apple CarPlay unit For Toyota

Looking at the Alpine Halo9 ILX-F309FRN
Would like it to be hardwired to the usb in the dash as well as all the steering controls still work.
Will I have any problems with this? I am going to have it done but would like to get some opinions from people who are not “gaining” anything from my lack of knowledge.

You’ll probably need a steering wheel adapter for the controls and another adapter for usb (maybe not though). Definitely do-able.

I just did this in my vehicle, but I went with a Kenwood with wireless Apple Car Play. Love it. It also has two usb inputs that I just ran to my glove box. I also bought the steering wheel interface along with the Datalink piece that does all the on board vehicle diagnostics stuff, but this also allowed my factory USB input to work with the system too. I loaded up a USB with a bunch of music but I never use it. The wireless car play interface kicks arse.

My 2013 Avalon's radio display has bitten the dust, so need a radio. I looked at Crutchfield and see what radio I want and all of that jazz buy I'm not even remotely mechanically inclined. How difficult is this to do even with the instructions?

Pay them the extra few dollars for the plug and play vehicle specific wire harness and it should be plug and play wires and a few bolts around the dash.

They give step by step directions to all of it. They will even sit on the phone with you and walk you through it of you want. Crutchfield is the absolute best way to go
Once I ordered a headunit and thought I was missing a pack of screws. Called them just to confirm the size so that I could go to Lowe's or somewhere and buy replacements. Found them under a flap in the box as I was on the phone and the guy said he would stay on the phone while I checked to make sure they fit. Told him it may be 30 minutes because I wasn't even to that step and he was like no problem I will just wait if you want. Changing headunits in 90% of cars is pretty freaking easy with their directions. They show where all the screws/fasteners are. Even point out the hidden spots that may be tricky

Thanks. The phone support makes me feel better about it. Might pull the trigger on a radio soon. I hate not having a functional screen and backup camera.

Judging by the head unit I’m assuming it’s a 4runner.
If so, that headunit blocks part of the ac vents, just as a heads up.

Is your factory radio a JBL system, navigation, touch screen? Dependent upon what factory radio you have it may or may not be worth the hassle or not recommended to install a aftermarket radio.
The factory radio and part of the dash is one pretty big piece but they do make a install kit for some 2013 Avalon but no all radio options.

Mine is the bottom one.
No navigation, not JBL. But it is touchscreen with Bluetooth and backup camera.
Stealership wants $1500 for just the radio, no labor included. Told them to get bent buy figured I could bring it to a local place and get something done cheaper..?

Since your AC/Heat controls are part of the factory radio you're probably better off going with a used factory radio from ebay or a junk yard for $200ish.
Link to one on ebay that may or may not be the same as your factory radio. The ebay pics show a part/model #57047 on the radio. Look to see if your factory radio has a part # on it. Swapping out a factory radio isn't that difficult.

My 2020 Taco is wired only, I bought an adapter to make it wireless, wireless is the way to go.
