After having AT&T TV NOW for 3 years, I tried Youtube TV - it’s great

I feel like an idiot for not switching sooner.
The guide is far superior
The on demand interface is far superior. You can actually fast forward and rewind without the app crashing
The channels actually load in a timely manner
I guess this is what you get when you pay for a service that is actually a priority, rather than a service that is used to subsidize the bleeding of the cord cutting phenomenon

I was an OG DTV Now Sub, had the 100 channels for $35 per month. At some point I canceled and lost it. I've had YouTubeTV for almost two years and it's been great. Much better.
I've tried basically all of them out there and YouTubeTV is tops by far.

I'm still with them...that $35 per month is up to $60 per month now. I'm thinking about doing the same, but my only hesitation is that youtube shows Fox Sports South and not also SouthEast which I need both of to watch the Braves once baseball resumes.

I've been going with the antenna and the AT&T Watch TV subscription. Comes free with my cellphone plan and I get HBO for free with it.
The only thing it doesn't cover is sports but when football season comes I just get Youtube TV for those few months then cancel after the season.

I also had the original $35 sub. Got a free Apple TV with it too. I pay $60 now and have shopped around. It's still a great deal considering the amount of content and free HBO. I'm not switching. No way. It's a great sports package.

We have as well other than Hulu and we like YouTube the best. My only issue is that I'm getting to the point now where I'm basically paying cable prices with YouTube, Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime. I guess the no contract is still nice.

Do you have T-Mobile, by chance? If so, they give all their customers mlb.tv for free EVERY year for the last few years. It's how I watch my Braves down here in New Orleans.
They might be doing the same for Sprint customers now that they're in the fold too.

True but you can't think like that. You'd still probably have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+ with a cable bill, right? I know my household would so we're still saving a shite ton.

nope, I have AT&T for phone service . That also makes leaving AT&T TV Now difficult since I can stream it for free on my phone without it going against my data plan.
also being in Birmingham I get blacked out on MLB.tv for the braves

I’ve used ATT TV Now for a couple years and still like it. They’ve gone up on price but no other streaming service touches the channel lineup I still get from my grandfathered package. If they ever force me off this I’d probably check out YTTV first though, heard great things.

I made the switch last week. I'm streaming it on PS4, still getting used to the controls. Gonna have to get a Roku eventually.

But I do think eventually the price of streaming services will keep creeping up until it is very near the price of cable. I have written about this in detail here a while back, but I'll try to summarize what I think will happen.
It's mostly about channel bundles and ownership consolidation. But also it's about the way this particular market is structured - it's kind of a perverse version of free markets in which increased competition raises prices rather than lowers them.
Obviously, the streaming providers have to buy the streaming rights to content from the content owners. If there is only one streaming service, they are the only bidder for this content, so it's easy to make deals. If a second streaming service comes into play, this new competition allows the content owners to ask higher fees. This is especially true for the big boys like the ESPNs, which the major streaming services have to have. The high bidder sets the price for all of them, and they all have to pay it or lose subscribers. More bidders = higher fees.
The end user demand remains constant, but more competition among the middlemen drives prices up for consumers instead of down. And the content owners can get away with it because the channel bundle structure disguises the costs from consumers.

We only have Netflix,Prime, Hulu and Disney+. We would have prime anyway, we don't keep Hulu full time, Disney+ gets worn the heck out for $6.99 a month with my 5 year old not to mention the Star Wars and Marvel catalogs... Netflix has good shows often enough we don't cancel it like Hulu. I never have trouble finding sports streams when I need one, usually they are very good, better than trying to stream ESPN3 or plus or whatever it is called.
