new house.

want:
4k recording at min. 15fps (pref. 30)
POE wiring
quiet NVR

I have Lorex/FLIR now, but their support is terrible, app is useless and dvr sounds like a 747 taking off, but the video is great quality (1080p system from a few years ago).

looking for suggestions, thanks!

I'm planning to go with Ubiquiti Unifi POE cameras and nvr/cloudkey solution. They have one 4k model (24 fps).

I put a lorex 4K POE system in my house a few months back. The DVR is quite loud. I’ve been mostly pleased with the app and the video quality during day light is great. I wish the night vision quality was a little better. I think I paid about $550 for the 6 camera system when they had a sale going so for the price I’m very pleased

Really don't see how 4K is an advantage over 1080p here.

Just a massive bandwidth and storage hog

I would think if you have to zoom in for detail 4K will be a better option. Like trying to read a plate or see a face at a distance.

yeah. it's that cheap fan they put on the board. if I can find a place to hide it where I won't hear it, I may get another. there seems to be a distinct lack of complete systems provided by other companies. everything is a la carte and expensive as shite.

I ended up putting mine on top of my built in cabinet in the living room. The only time I really ever notice it is when the TV volume is real low.

Neighbor attorney down the street noticed that someone had trenched his yard. Didn't have cameras but his neighbor did. Her cameras picked up the plate and no shite, he showed up to the dude's house with a gun

I kinda agree with this except in areas that you may need to zoom in on such as driveways for license plate numbers, etc. Also, most 4k cameras and NVR's that I've seen allow the option to record at lower resolutions (to save storage space I assume)

I will be installing (5) 4k POE cameras at our camp in the next few weeks. I may tweak the resolution settings to save storage space except on the ones that really need the higher resolution

The CAT 6 ethernet and conduit has already been run underground- just need to run through the attic and under the dock.

I have the 5mp 8 camera system from reolink. They have a 4k version now not sure how it works. However, when I was looking at nvr's. I noticed most brands that advertised the higher resolution only recorded 1 or 2 cameras in that resolution. The rest were at like 720p or something I'd rather not watch.

The reolink records all at maximum resolution. And it easily is reached on my phone or anywhere I need it. I prefer wired for what I'm doing.

If you are comfortable, you can easily open up the DVRs and see what sized fans are used. I've bought replacement fans that are same sized and reduced the noise significantly.
