2 best things I've installed on my Nexus 6 lately

Android auto and night shift.
I love both of them.
Android auto kicks in as soon as my phone pairs with the radio and changes back when I kill the engine.
I love how it reads incoming texts out loud to you and let's you respond by choice and even speaks what you're sending before it goes.
Night shift is a godsend if you use your phone at night. Can't believe how much the normal screen was killing my eyes before. This also happens automatically.

Still waiting on Ford to send the update for my car to add it. Was supposed to come with it in the first place

Who is the maker of night shift? There are a few different ones that look similar.

Just grabbed a Nexus 6 waiting for it to be shipped. Do you have to have a specific unit to use Android Auto?

Re: night shift I installed the very simple 'night mode enabler' by Mike Evans in the play store. Simple free and easy.
Re: Android auto I'm using a 10yo pioneer single din head unit in my 4runner that has Bluetooth. I am using the Nexus 6 as my screen.

This would be the end of me.

It's kind of creepy to hear another woman reading texts my wife sent me.
Eta you tell it which ones you want it to read.

My OnePlus 3 came with a night mode and I love it

I'll check it out when I get the phone. Do you have yours rooted and do you use custom roms? If so do you have any favorites?

I would download NRT and immediately unlock, root and install latest OS if it isn't up to date.
Yes I'm rooted primarily for AdAway. The app above to enable night mode doesn't require root.
It's a fantastic phone esp for the current price.

Is there a specific version of Adaway that I should use? I tried it with a Nexus 6p that my brother had and it didn't do a very good job of blocking ads. Of course I could have not been using it correctly.

Seems to block 100% browser ads and a massive amount of ads in apps but not all.
Get fdroid or just look for latest AdAway apk. Looks like I'm running 3.1.2 but it should auto update
Hit me up at my TD name @live.com and I'll hook you up with the "good" Pandora and Spotify

I'm confused by your level of excitement over night shift. Why do you need an app that enables a system setting? Does it do a better job of selectively dimming the screen? The first thing I do with my fresh iPhones is disable that setting because it always makes it too dim.

i dont know how it works on iphone, all i know is adjusting the brightness still makes my eyes hurt at night or in a dark room with my android.
night shift changes the gamma; gives the screen a yellow-beige tint automatically after dark so its easy to look at my phone screen in my car driving at night (when its running android auto mode) or if i pick it up in the middle of the night to check time.
again, it does it automatically based on my time zone or something. i like it alot.

I'll have to check this out. iOS does have a night shift mode that changes the screen color, not just the brightness. I don't like that it's on a schedule though, I wish it could use the camera to detect light levels to decide whether to shift.

I love the Android Auto! I have a night mode setting with my PixelRom running 7.1.1. I use it and love it.
I want to find a car vent phone holder. Any suggestions?
