Is it pretty much a given that TCL is the go to in that range?

TCL 6 series seems like a good option
Sony X900F if you can find any in stock
Recently saw the rtings.com review for the Hisense H9G was an 8.4 (very high for this price range)

Best bang for your buck by a pretty good margin. Who knows when stock is back though and it goes fast.

The TCL/Roku 6 series latest model, 2020. I have the 2019 55 inch TCL 6 and after 9 months am very satisfied, and now all the new reviews say the latest model 6 even better.

Yea, but China is asshoe. And make no mistake; TCL is a Chinese state owned company.

I just got the TCL 65" 8 series and I am extremely satisfied.

Watched King Kong last night and i was marveling at how awesome the picture looked.
Also is a true 120hz, which is why i went with the 8 series over the 6. Take off the stupid motion stuff and sports look smooth as could be.

I am so stupid. I passed on that 65" twice when it was available. I figured the second time it became available it would stick, but that only last like a day.

I will pull the trigger next time I see it available.

builds his audio & video house of cards on discontinued and vendor-locked technology and asks 'what does this mean?'

You're losing it man. Seriously, you make zero sense. Have you read all your posts complaining about tech not working?

Have you read mine?

I'll make it simple. I have ATT TV. If I have chromecast TVs, it simply makes my life easier.

Instead of you recognizing this, you try to play this gotcha game. It's what you do here. You literally never help anyone. If they post a question, you mock them for not knowing it. You are truly a sick frick.

ok let me spell it out, boomer.

google has been slowly adding more and more DRM into the chromecast device and all someone like comcast has to do is say 'hey, don't let a user cast our tv shows and in fact, don't let them cast their phone screen at all.' and google jumps all over it.

i posted a thread on here 5 years ago about how i was able to at least watch local TV on my chromecast-dependent tv by casting my whole phone screen but then suddenly that stopped working b/c google deemed i shouldn't be able to watch local TV on a TV..i could only watch it on my phone.

if you only use like netflix & youtube then i guess you're fine but the reason i bought a half dozen chromecasts was to be able to cast *ANYTHING* but now our Benevolent God; Google, has abused their casting technology to filter out streams they deem not appropriate (pirate streams of tv, whenever comcast throws a hissy fit, etc) so the idea that casting was an agnostic technology is gone.

but hey, sounds like you don't really do much outside the sandbox google gives you so keep on enjoying those 5 apps google deems are worthy of being cast...at least until they change their mind. i hope they don't end their partnership with ATT because you may end up exactly like i did with comcast!

you may have forgotten but i was all over the chromecast bandwagon back in the day on here until about 80% of what i used to cast stopped working thanks to Google deeming what is and isn't worthy.

Sucks for you I guess.
