Hoppe started today

Over 20 Americans started in first division European leagues + the English championship over the weekend. That group doesn’t include Pulisic, Reyna, Weah, Dest, Richards, De La Torre.

This is the best start to a European season I can recall for any American contingent.

Roldan just had groin surgery and is put 4-6 weeks so not looking great for his World Cup hopes. I bet Tillman makes it now.

Chris Richards went the full 90 for Crystal Palace in a 2-0 win over Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

He led the backline with 5 clearances and graded out as the best defender. He was also the main guy on the ball when playing it out of the back.

Djordje following in the footsteps of Jozy and Bacon.

His transfer to AZ is official.

Good move for him. Maybe stay there a few years and see if he can make it in a big five league.

Love the Eredivisie for developing offensive players (although based on the examples of Jozy and Bacon perhaps that belief is misplaced).

Jozy was a beast in the Eredivisie. Sunderland was just a terrible fit. If you look at that godawful team though they did much better statistically when he was on the field than when he was not. I wish we had prime Jozy back. I always expected him to be in play for this cycle and was surprised at how fast he dropped off.

Tilman with some beautiful pressing to win the ball in the box, and then dipped it off for an easy assist.

Like cwill said, Jozy was a terrible fit for the shitshow that was Sunderland. As for Bacon, he never really got a chance at Bremen because his body fell apart.

Tillman assist from pressuring a defender

You know Gregg is loving this

Also sands looks like a lock to make the September camp. He was an easy MOTM choice for Rangers’ qualifier against PSV. The announcers couldn’t stop raving about him.

Both Tillman and Sands are major reasons that Rangers will be playing in Champions league this year!

As you said, Sands was a rock in the back.

Tillman was all over the midfield. He set up several shots in addition to his steal and assist play. He also had a nice left footed shot on goal in the second half requiring a diving save by the keeper.

I've been watching all their qualifiers and those two are looking to be two crucial pieces of that team. Tilman had another really good chance a couple minutes after his assist.

I’ve been watching every rangers game too just because of those two guys and I’ve been really impressed by both. This is honestly the first time I’ve come away thinking Sands could play for the USMNT. His decision making and distribution is pretty solid. Prior to watching these qualifiers I didn’t even realize he was going to be a starter for them this year.

I didn't get to see it.

Did Sands play in the back or as a #6?

He only entered the friendly at the 81st minute. No I didn't watch.

He was a beast in the Eredivisie.

But the Eredivisie is a developmental league and neither Jozy nor Bacon developed the ability to play in a better league than the Eredivisie. It was the pinnacle of each players career.

There are plenty of reasons why that may have been the case but the simple fact is neither were able to step up in class from the Eredivisie.
