Especially if Salzburg is significantly better than the competition, then I shouldn’t assume Aaronson’s early success is all that impressive if I were comparing his form to, say, Gio Reyna’s
All I know is that I’d much rather have aaronson in my squad right now than Gio. I’m selling Gio stock in a big fricking way. He’s looked downright awful. Zero improvement from last year. If anything he looks worse. He undoubtedly has talent and skill, but he plays like such a pussy with zero effort it drives me insane. Aaronson is constantly busting his arse. Reminds me a bit of Mason mount in that regard.

Damn dude he’s eighteen and starting for one of the biggest teams in Europe, playing a match every three days. His form is going to wax and wane. No one on Dortmund has looked good lately, except for Haaland and Sancho.

Holy hot takes, Batman...
There’s some question as to tactics not really suiting his style lately as well. He has tons of growing to do, but you can bet Gio will look just fine in Greg’s starting XI should he land there.

I want him nowhere near the starting 11 right now. Especially if it’s centrally. The only thing he enjoys more than slowing play down is passing it backwards. Let him loaf around on one of the wings with a comfortable lead, and 15 min left to play.
A lot of this hate is hyperbole, but he really has been a terrible watch for a long time now.

Not enough talk about Sargent’s goal today

I’m really glad you’re not his manager.
Seriously, give the kid time to come into his own. He hasn’t regressed. Their whole team is in a slump. He’ll be fine.

Sargent is starting to stake his claim for the XI. Between him and what some others are doing recently (Weah, Dike, etc), I’m starting to feel better about the depth we’ll have in that role.
But you’re right, Sargent looks to be turning a pretty important corner. His highlights over the last month have been strong.

This is why I started the conversation. If qualifying started tomorrow, I also think It would be hard to start Reyna over someone like Aaronson. But Reyna has a lot of time to get going again..

Josh Perez is on the El Salvador Olympic Qualifying roster.

I bet you thought Jozy was a lazy oaf who never scored and Bradley only played because of nepotism.

A long time? He’s been a full pro for like all of a year now

Sargent played in the hole today (giggity), kind of a false nine. He has great technique and uses his body well. His hold up game has improved a lot lately. Watch the highlights I posted recently of him to see what I mean. He also does a ton of defensive work for a forward.

What's crazy about that is that only 5 of players I listed are currently in MLS, none of which I would start right now.
It is conceivable that the 2022 World Cup could be the first time since MLS' inception that we roll out an XI that doesn't have a single player in MLS.

We are going to be a tough out within the next few years.

This is the golden generation... Who knows if it pays off with anything significant, but this is the most talent we've had come up together.
It has a chance to surpass the Donovan, Dempsey, Howard, Beasley generation.

The only chance is if they bring in Beasley to be a player coach

I like to think that this group of Americans abroad is sort of like that first wave of euro talent coming into the nba that opened the eyes of league execs & fans to European prospects more broadly. I’m hoping it means we are only a generation away from routinely having truly great players dominating at the biggest clubs in word football.
