Former 2017 U.S. U-20 World Cup forward Emmanuel Sabbi with a goalazzzzo today in Denmark in Hobro's season opener. Hobro lost 3-1 to Vejle Boldklub but Sabbi hit this ridiculous 2nd half strike LINK

Interesting news this morning as midfielder Kyle Scott (20) has been sent out on loan by Chelsea to Dutch 2nd Division club Telstar, the same club where Andrija Novakovich spent last season. Figured he would stay in England, but this move will get him playing time, which he needs

Justin Butler (17) scored for the Bayern U19s today in a 3-1 win against Czech side Slavia Prague. Butler featured for Bayern's U17s last year, and is looking to impress at a higher level this year. He was a member of the US U18s during the YNT Summit in January

Am told LA Galaxy Academy winger Uly Llanez will be training with @FCBayernUS this week. Bayern have been doing a good job monitoring the top talent in the U.S

In addition to Ulysses Llanez, Sporting KC midfielder Cameron Duke (17) is also training with Bayern Munich, according to Keith Costigan. Duke was the DA central division player of the season at the U16/U17 level. Bayern really zeroing in on US prospects.

Any insight as to what the sudden interest by Bayern is in our youth? I realize they’re just training over there but it’s just very curious because this all seems pretty out of the blue.

A big part of it is that there’s no youth compensation set-up in the US yet, so unless a player has signed a contract with MLS, a European team can swoop in and get him for free. It’s hurt Dallas the most. Losing guys they’ve developed like McKennie for free. While it’s something I’d like to see us resolve soon, it’s indirectly been a positive for US Soccer by giving our young talents more opportunities in Europe that they might not get if the teams had to pay compensation. We’re like an apple orchard without a gate to European clubs.

Also, several MLS teams have direct partnerships with European clubs. New York Red Bulls with RB Leipzig and Salzburg, NYC with Man City, Dallas with Bayern Munich, and DC United with AC Milan just off the top of my head. Now that MLS academies are actually producing talents, you’re starting to see more of these kids be picked up by the teams in Europe.

Dallas is the best academy in the country at taking young kids and developing them into teenage prospects, and they are directly partnered with Bayern, so that probably explains it. Dallas is adding a USL team next year which should further help their development.
