Those guys are going to win a championship in year one.

Hope he's ready for a call up to the parent club

Can he play against Barca in two weeks?
Posted on 3/4/15 at 1:42 pm to BlueMoon
He's not going to start playing until 2016?

Ugh, no thanks. 36 year olds just starting their career in MLS should be a thing of the past. Go find some 19-25 year old languishing on the bench at Schalke, Copenhagen, Dynamo Moscow, etc.

And what exactly would signing that guy on the bench in Europe achieve compared to an aging star?

not really going to compete with those wages

As opposed to competing with the wages offered to Xavi, Villa, and Lampard? Yea, right.
As for what it would accomplish--we'd get players who are in their prime, or approaching it, and who have a resale value. Spending 7 mill on a 36 year old means MLS will forever be known as a retirement league.

You do realize the huge gap in pay the MLS has.
It would also be hard justifying paying a young unproven kid from europe those wages. We already know how cheap the owners are.

I don't agree with the take on aging stars vs. young European guys.
Best case scenario, though, are guys like Giovinco at Toronto FC. Let's see more of those.

Let's also not forget at this stage who will sell more tickets: Xavi or some young Danish kid that could be great but not many people over here know about

Which is the most important thing right now.
Being a "retirement league" has opened the door for more money, which has led to guys like Giovinco.

MLS teams will continue to try to cheaply pick up young Latin American players while everyone ignores that they try to cheaply pick up young Latin American players

Yes indeed. I like Dynamo's handling of its scouting. Both of the Hondurans are quite nice for us.
