I think the players would be pretty devastated if Jurgen got fired. He seems tough but you have to respect a coach who is able to get you play at a level above what most people think you are capable of.

How are you raising me with Per? Good for Klinsmann for not burning all his bridges in Germany.
i just think its funny that you will take an opinion that is obviously on your side and use it and run with it but will not use an equally as useful opinion and not use it. Basically all i am saying is who the frick cares what lahm said. same with mertesacker.
Im not saying to worhsip the ground he walks upon. Im just saying lets let him finish this world cup and since he has done a good job move along and coach the gold cup and if he continues to do a good job, then maybe next world cup.

None of this shite is new from me. I have not wavered.
you havent. but its still bat shite crazy and fricking retarded.

He is an average tactical manager, and I want a better one.
If he won the world cup why would you want a better tactical manager? So maybe he could win the world cup twice in the same year?

He is not a bad coach, but he is no legend.
Better than the last one and prbly better than any alternative right now

It was a personal decision. Donovan was clearly good enough. We don't need to run through all the reasons.
Jurgen did not even have to play him. Creating the controversy in the first place is absurd. Clearly, we did not need every member of the 23.

Who the frick cares? We've performed about as well anyone had a right to reasonably expect. Especially offensively. Not saying leaving landon at home was a good decision, but so far it certainly hasn't been a poor one

Just cause something worked out does not mean it was the right. No one player would have been the difference between us and qualifying and not. shite, we could have started Mix over Bradley and Guzan over Howard and possibly still been at four points, but that does not mean it would have been a good call.
Oizers, Klinsmann is mediocre tactically. There is a reason that Jogi Loew was his right hand man when Klinsmann coached the Germans. This is not new info. The us federation knew this going into the hire. That does not mean he can not be a decent coach though. He is alright. I just don't have to like him or support his decisions.

maybe he didn't want a distraction at the world cup which is why he did it in the first place and is why he did it weeks prior to the cup.
to me, all signs point to LD was a TO, a cancer to the message being sent forth by the coaching staff and would not buy into the new staff and strategy. IF LD was not, there would be no reason in leaving him at home. (unless you believe that he was intentionally trying to create a controversy to take pressure off his team)

not disagreeing with this statement or why Loew was his right hand man but
do you think any previous coach was better tactically?
I think you are using this as a crutch to hate on him for the LD decision.
We are playing better style of soccer now and playing better tactically than last world cups....
and do you think there was a reason Germany hired Klinsmann over Loew?

On Wynalda's comments:
They make no sense from either a realistic perspective or from a logical/analytical one. Realistically, Gulati's decision to give him a 4 year extension before the World Cup would prevent any chance that Klinsmann would be let go, regardless of the team's performance. This was a dumb play by Gulati because he completely took away his leverage. I see no benefit to giving Klinsmann a new deal in December 2013.
From a logical and analytical perspective, it also doesn't make sense. The team has 4 points in a very tough group. If they don't make it to the second round, they will likely be the only squad with 4 points to miss out on the final 16. When factoring that and the degree of difficulty in the group, no one deserves to be let go short of physically abusing players or something like that.
The team has already exceeded expectations of reasonable fans, even if the Varela goal was a huge disappointment. The errors that cost us in that game were two dumb mistakes by usually very reliable and uncontorversial starters.
By not calling up Donovan, Klinsmann put himself under the microscope, for criticism if not job security since he already had the extension, I'll never understand his decision on that end, but the team's play in the World Cuphas warranted him continuing in charge of the squad.
On the other hand, guys like van Gaal and Sir Alex would laugh until they were covered in more piss than a dive bar bathroom at what some of the posters here consider "distractions" or "insubordination".

Jurgen has been nothing short of spectacular.
He's an outstanding coach who has done a commendable job revamping our program AND delivering positive results.

I really don't understand where all of these "LD would've been a distraction" arguments are coming from.
Do people not remember Donovan coming off the bench in 2011?

When you turn on ESPN and you see they're interviewing Landon Donovan, do you run and get the lotion first or just flap raw? Get his dick out of your arse dude.

Does it matter? Tactics are not Jurgen's strong point. That is not the type of manager he is. This has nothing to do with any of our previous hires. Plus, I could not accurately the tactics of really any coaches before Bradley because I did not watch soccer then.

I guess. It certainly did not look that way against Ghana. I was pretty happy with how we played Portugal at 50%. Even with their injuries, it was a good result.

I do not know. Ask hendo. Germany also replaced Klinsmann with Loew, but Loew has probably now run his course at Germany.

Until Jürgen came in, we had always been a bunker/counter attack team. I absolutely love that he is trying to turn that around and encourage our players to be the attackers for once. Tactically, I don't know who we could go after right now that would be much better.

Only reason I brought up the previous guys is because I believe that jurgen is a clear upgrade all around. And while there are certainly better managers around, I doubt we could get one. Our job is not that good unless its a retirement type job.
One reason I think Germany chose jk over loew at the start was for the vision to overhaul the system which is what we need. I could be wrong though.
I think Ghana is a little bit of a result of being ahead early. I do think one of biggest faults is that we react to the game as opposed to making it react to us
at the end of the day, we all want the same thing continual improvement so

Honestly, I can see Wynalda's argument. In any real soccer country where they expect their team to compete for championships, any coach who fails to get out of the round of 32 is probably gone within 2 years and definitely gone by the next WC. (and no, England doesn't count...they've come to expect nothing from their national team.)
If we are going to be a true world power, we need to start behaving like one, and hold our coaches and squads to a higher standard. We cannot afford any more Bob Bradley's.
We gave Bradley an extension through this WC as late as 2010, and yet I haven't seen him on the sidelines in a minute, so any suggestion that Klinsmann's contract extension means anything is bunk.
All that said, here's hoping this is a moot point and we defeat Germany on our way to a deep run through the elimination rounds.

You don't fire a guy for coming in 3rd in a group of death with 4 good teams.

Wasn't Bob Bradley on a few hundred thousand per year vs. Klinsmann's ~$2 million?

Well, you certainly can, and someone like Bento might deserve it, but I agree that Klinsmann should not be let go after our showing in this WC
