Spoke to Tab Ramos, Thomas Rongen and Jonathan Gonzalez’s father, and despite claims of multiple in-home visits, I can confirm no #USSF official EVER visited the Gonzalez household. All the details on today’s #MaxAndHerc. #USMNT #ElTriEng @mbretosESPN @SebiSalazarFUT

Heads must roll. How shitty can the leadership be? USSF needs to clean house, top to bottom.

Maybe I took it out of context, but I don't see how he couldn't see something is wrong...

The bigger story here is that Rongen and others in US soccer lied about the ordeal and weren't immediately fired for it. I hope whoever comes in cleans house. J. Gonzalez is now saying the only communication he had from US soccer lately was a single email from Bruce in September. Also when he was 14 he was told by Richie Williams to either play at Bradenton or piss off to Mexico (over the phone), and then implied if he didn't give him an answer right there he would be moving onto the next candidate. Again, this is someone who should not be involved in US soccer.

The kid clearly wanted to play for the US

But we treated arguably the best center mid at that age group in our pool like shite

And now we are paying the price for it

I'll need more info from other sources about what happened before I slam anyone too hard.

For instance, I don't know why Rongen said what he did, but it wasn't his job to go to meet with with the family or recruit Jonathan.

Was listening to Counter Attack the other day and Meola had copies of emails, texts, etc. from US reps to/from Jonathan. Ramos was still keeping in touch with him, etc. I think what ultimately hurt us was no clear plan with where the USMNT is heading.

As much as I love Tony

Counter attack is one of the worst soccer shows out there.

Maybe, maybe not. I just know it was the only one on the radio on my drive to the gym. However, that doesn't matter unless you think they are just lying their arse off to everyone. It may not be the best show, but they do have a ton of contacts in the US soccer landscape and they know how the system works.

According to Williams, that's not what happened.

He says he sent an email to all families in December. Jonathan's mom replied 2 days later saying Jonathan is excited but needed some time to weigh the offer from Monterrey. If he then called the family a week later and said they need an answer, can anyone be upset about that?

“Obviously, that’s absolutely not true. We would never pressure a player to join residency,” Williams, the former U.S. Under-17 head coach, told Sirius XM. “There’s plenty of players that turn down residency, and we understand that at the young age of 14- and 15-years old it’s not for everyone.” Williams added that emails were sent to all players in December 2013, and that he got a response from Gonzalez’s mother within two days stating that the teenager was in Mexico on vacation and would not return until mid-January. “We need a response in terms of these players coming to residency sooner than that, because schooling is involved with that,” said Williams. “Both sides, parents and us, and even the players themselves, recognize that it is important to make sure they don’t miss school.”

I don't have a problem with that, if that's the truth.
