Will easily make it out of the group. Won't make the semis.

They should be the favorite to top their group, and on paper they look like a squad that could make a run to the semi's. A lot depends on how Lukaku plays with the Benteke injury, and should be fun to watch. Games aren't played on paper, but their squad is star studded that's for sure.

Most overrated team in the world cup. Good team, not as good as everyone keeps saying.

Germany
with their lack of a striker and mediocre defense, probably one of the most overrated.

I'm going to enjoy watching them play because they have a lot of talent, but:
they have 4 center backs along their back line and a mostly average group of center mids and their best striker is missing due to injury.
Courtois will make sure they're good, but if you're expecting them to make a semifinal run, I think you'll be disappointed.

Everyone talking about them this cycle, they could potentially be really dangerous next cycle.

Wanted to bump this at this stage in the cup. Any changes in opinion about this team? They haven't been overly impressive but seem to get the job done when they need to. For some reason I feel they make it deep in the tournament. I think they are young and vey dangerous when focused. I may just be remembering the 4-1 thumping they put on us and being biased because of that game...

They look solid to me. Their back line looks more solid than other teams I've seen so far. I guess we'll see.

They looked great in qualifying and in their pre-WC friendlies. Since, Lukaku has disappeared. He will need to be in form for them to do anything. They have played like shite for the majority of the first two matches, but have been bailed out by moments of brilliance.
I am currently studying abroad here in Belgium, and their post game reactions have been absolutely great.

Kompany has impressed.

What is the general feel from the public there? I saw a video before the cup began where it looked like the general populous were really starting to get involved and revived. Could've just been hype for a cool video but it seemed genuine.

Dude is an impressive specimen, for sure.

So they play USA/Germany then a very unimpressive Argentina team if they advance.

I'm in Brussels, and I can't speak for the rest of the country but Brussels has been going nuts after both games. The city is just one big party after each win. After they beat Algeria, you would've thought their team had just won the Super Bowl. Streets filled with people being blocked off from traffic, cars honking in celebration until hours after the game, and even the police are so relaxed and enjoying it so it makes it easier to celebrate like that.
It's been 12 years since they were in any major tournament, and they have a lot of pent up enthusiasm. Best example I can think of - we were walking through a popular area that was in the process of being blocked off from traffic. The people were shaking cars and busses as they passed through. One tiny car comes in with a dad and his young son, and of course the fans start shaking it. The dad and kid seemed so happy about the win they did not care about the car, just enjoyed it. That would not go over well in America.
