A lot of Americans will likely always be soccer contrarians simply because it is foreign and the following in the US is much more slanted toward an urban, college educated and liberal demographic than other mainstream sports.
They're antagonistic to almost everything they associate with being European except french fries (most of the time).
There's a million things to nitpick about every sport but the root with soccer in the US is likely much more about what's subconsciously motivating the desire to dislike and nitpick.
Fortunately, anyone who doesn't want to watch soccer can always switch over to Matlock.

I like tournament chess as well, and it uses a point system like soccer (1 for a win and .5 for a draw), and just like in soccer a draw could be a great and exciting matchup between two top teams or a scrappy underdog playing their best game against a big dog. I get why ties in football with such limited games can’t happen regularly, but the immediate reaction of a lot of Americans to hate ties always is weird.

There is nothing wrong with being at an infancy stage of something, running into assholes that think their knowledge should be weaponized instead of shared is inevitable, especially online, fortunately that person/persons is not the keeper of the gate, you can very easily avoid them.
I didn't even read the entire quoted part of the article much less the article. "It sucks because you can't use your hands" is something I heard in middle school from people who were often too uncoordinated to dribble a basketball either, I would not be shocked if somewhere in there it says "you have to run too much"

Trash post, not even worth a response. NBA is boring. NFL is unwatchable. Baseball and soccer are amazing.
