frick all this "lets make a run a the quarters" bullshite, we are in the midst of an historic run (4 wins away from the longest winning streak of any international team ever).

I don't give a frick that the bulk of it has been done against CONCACAF teams, it takes a special team to not only go unbeaten for 12 straight games, but win 12 in a row.

We may not have any world class players, but we certainly have a shite ton of talented players plus a good mix of vets and young talent.

We about to make Brazil our bitch.

Team is capable of beating almost anyone.

Also capable of losing to anyone at WC.

I'm very optimistic though.

Those guys are better, no doubt, but they're not machines, they're not perfect. This group of players we have now look pretty damn good when we're on the same page. Adding Donovan, Bacon and JAB to the mix can only make us better. I've said it for a while now, we will have the deepest and most talented team we've ever had next summer. The talent gap between us and the nations listed above is shrinking, slowly but surely, next summer will show that.

Odds that Aron caps versus CR or that shitty temp labor pool to the south?

I think we will see JAB and Bacon called up to the next WCQ camp. Let's cap them both late in one of the matches.

HELL YES!!!!

Just a side note - would winning the World Cup become the greatest sporting moment in history for our country? I say yes. For me personally, it would be nirvana.

Doesn't need to be cap tied.

yes, considering only a handful of nations have ever won the WC, we would be in elite company. Miracle on Ice would be a close 2nd.

It would supplant the Miracle on Ice, easily.

It would be really surreal to live in a World post-World Cup victory... I'd have a big case of "frick, what now?"

Kind of odd how we're talking about winning it all. We beat #13 at home as #19. That's like an undefeated Sun Belt team talking about the BCS after upsetting an average to decent SEC team.

We were ranked #6 heading into the 2006 WC.

About that.... How come when the WC seeding happened, we weren't in the A+ teams pot? Not only that, we got stuck with the damn group of death. That 2006 team was legit but shot in the foot before anything could get going. Let's not forget it featured...

Roster had basically everyone who made 2002 so awesome. McBride, O'Brien, Reyna, Pope, Keller, Beasley, Donovan..... most of those who were good in 2010, Dempsey, GAM, Cherundolo, not to mention Onyewu at his peak. Any other group and we advance.
