Becuase JK is an idiot. He uses a magic 8 ball, shakes it, and that is how he picks his players.

Jurgen is stubborn. Simple as that. He wants to prove that he knows best, that's why you see all the tinkering and playing out of position. He fancies himself some tactical wizard, we soccer peasants can't understand.

It really was dumb though. This is a major tournament. That experience is vital moving forward for our younger players. Beckerman and Zusi aren't making the WC squad, yet here they are, getting second half minutes with a 3-0 lead, because Jurgen knows best

I honestly think he just went with defensive mid fielders to ride out the game. Happens all the time in sports.

costa rica was pressing, down 3-0. not even comparable

Nagbe would have had to replace Bradley or Jones. That wasnt happening. I thought Pulisic for Zardes would have been a good swap but Zusi is much more experienced and I assume better defensively.
