Where was this Michael Bradley during the WC?

The player that I watched the last two games is what we needed during the WC. Did he just cave under pressure last year?

He wasn't 100%, and he was playing a position he had never played before. He's had a year with the U.S. team to adjust CAM, and Toronto has only recently moved him to the same position.
Also he wasn't nearly as bad as people make him out to be. He was still one of our best players, anything even kind of resembling an incisive move from midfield or a calm, prolonged period of possession occurred through him

He was pretty good in the WC.
He's improved, but he's basically the same player: a strong runner with the ball at his feet, plays good to great long balls, work his arse off, strong in the tackle, prone to stray touches, particularly in the final third.
So to answer your question, he was on the field.

Unfortunately I think it was just really bad timing for him to have a dip in form. His club situation was a little up in the air, and a new position probably contributed. However, I think it gets a little overblown how he played last summer. People act like he was atrocious. I think he played decently, just no where near what he's capable of.

He looked good yesterday. I'm also a big fan of Yedlin.

To the OP, I think it was a combination of a foot injury and him putting too much pressure on himself. But he was still one of our best.
I blame MLS.

Didn't he have a foot injury?

I didn't know he had a foot injury. Was that info not released until after the WC?
IMO his first touch, passing decisions and precision were much improved in the last two games from what I saw in the WC. If only he would have finished that wide open shot just before the Bobby Wood goal...other than that, he seemed to have a hand in creating a lot of goal scoring opportunities against Germany and The Netherlands.
The question is, will he improve going into the next WC or will his age be a factor?

I think Jozy's injury in the WC screwed our tactics and Bradley was forced to play higher than he normally does. He's best suited as a box-to-box MF IMO. The fact that we made it out of the group of death in spite of those issues is amazing to me.
