Can't disagree with that. Capello's problem has been starting two CM's that are exactly the same. Lampard and Gerrard are not compatible players. The problem is that they have no other options. Wilshere is too young to provide a creative spark. It is crazy to consider, but the US has Torres and he is better than any English young CM in terms of creativity.

I get the feeling this will be his last w.c. at the very least as a starter. Anyone agree? Is this obvious?

also don't be surprised if England doesn't get out of group if Capello is fired.

Probably you're right but I'm not sure it would be completely justified. It seems England's problems may have more to do with personnel -- the point of the creative midfielder made above seems absolutely the heart of the matter (Much like Italy's problem capitalizing on overwhelming possession advantages against Paraguay and NZ comes down to the absence of Pirlo as well).

I'm sure many of you guys follow England's team much more closely than I do but what should Capello have really done differently?

Who on the planet would be surprised by that?

He should have kept Adam Johnson on the roster instead of cutting him. He should have played Joe Cole after failing miserably with Lennon's awful crosses and Shaun Wright-Phillip's complete ineptitude. He also should have taken less injury prone centerbacks instead of perpetually injured Ledley King, Rio Ferdinand and Jamie Carragher.

neither am I. I haven't agreed with everything in terms of lineups but I think he deserves more of a chance. He should learn from these games.

yes but Capello is in charge of personnel. (unless their is something IDK)

not play Emile Heskey, find a better way to use Lampard, play David James in the America game instead of Green, Use Joe Cole as a substitute, pick Theo Walcott, and I'm sure I'm missing a few things.
what ever happened to Owen Hargreaves?

I agree. He should have only picked Rio and left the other two out. Although Carragher's problem hasn't been injuries but rather his rough style of play that has got him carded twice in 2 games.

I'll say the same thing I said in 2002. He's simply not that good of a soccer player. I don't understand how England doesn't have a better option.

agreed. I mean he was better when he was younger but he wasn't ever amazing.

I think they do but for whatever reason refuse to play them.

The guy from Fulham? Zamora, right? (not sure if it is Fulham, whatever, some lower mid table side anyway).
