Silva may be a go, I think Iniesta is benched as a medical precaution so that is ready for Chile.

well if he's anything like yoann

no, that's an obvs aspect we need. yes we have some tall defenders, but we need height else where. i'd also love jesus to get in and score a goal. he deserves it for the last match

It is my personal opinion that the World Cup lost some big time creators since the last world cup (Zidane, Ronaldinho).

I know we still have Messi to hang our hats on, and he is playing really well. Robben and Schweinsteiger have been good. Forlan has been excellent.

Kaka, Ronaldo, Rooney, Drogba, and David Villa have all been lackluster so far for whatever reason.

I think Greece 04 established that defensive football will win without a dominant creative force to beat the defense. This has worked so far for Switzerland, Uruguay, Slovenia, New Zealand, and yes....Greece.

I'm just sayin....

Switzerland employed the Greece 04 strategy. Get one goal and defend for your life. Stifle the creative energy out of an attacking team.

I fully believe Villa and co. have the talent to beat such a defense....they just didn't the other day.

I agree that making a judgment on Spain is premature at this point.

And yes, Kaka played better today, but he's not in dominant form like he was in 2007.

Mesut Ozil is more like Kaka than Kaka is.

Of course they do. That's why although the Switzerland method will work for some nice upsets, the champion will be a team with actual offensive ability. Even Italy from 06 was able to come up with a decent offensive presence when necessary, and they love their defense.

He and Baby Bradley together would be the best young CM combo on the planet. Bayern? If Bastien leaves.

Mesut is more of a central forward than a central midfielder. I'd like to see them try though.

Where do you think Bradley is going to end up after the Cup? He shut down Frankie and scored a great goal. His stock is soaring.

Nothing new. Any fan of soccer can see England lacks a truly creative mid-field player. This is going to be their downfall. Their creativity comes from the wings and Lamps and Gerrard get in each others way. Slovenia will pose a serious problem for the English to break down.
