USMNT/WNT Best XI

Ridiculous. The MNT is the strongest it has ever been. This is the 'nostalgia' team, not the best XI. I truly believe that we have 8 of the best ever on the current 23. I think that'll be evident in the next couple of years.

I don't really remember Balboa, he was before my time. But Boca and Pope were both money. Dolo has been a fixture as well.

It should be mentioned that McBride is candidate for GOAT. He's been money his whole career and got better with age. He is considered a legend at Fulham and has his name on a pub there. He almost scored in every World Cup he'd been a apart of (He was elbowed in the eye Romario style in game 1 of 2006). ALSO, his deadly headers would have been crucial in the 2010 World Cup had we called him up. Yes, a age 39 McBride over Robbie Findley every day.

He was internationally retired at the time, but with the Davies injury, our attack was in deep shite (and it showed, no forward scored a single goal that WC). He can answered a call up to the Olympic team in 2008 and I can see a scenario were he'd answer his countries call one last time.

Eddie Pope is the best American defender of all time. I'd take Cherundolo in his prime over any of our current right back options. Fabian Johnson is better than Bocanegra, who was always a slow left back. Balboa is probably about the same as Besler, I'd say. Bocanegra at central back might actually be the best option.

Wynalda at his prime would take Terrance Boyd's spot (if he even has one), but that's it. Also, I would take Bradley over Reyna or Ramos. In other words, I think our best midfielders of all time are 1) Donovan 2) Dempsey 3) Bradley 4) Reyna Massive Drop (feel free to make your Skrillex joke here) 5) Ramos or whoever else you want to put

So you are sticking to your belief that a 39 year old McBride would have been a better option over FIndley, Buddle or Gomez in 2010? Really?

McBride already had one foot in retirement land at that point.

Just Findley. And yes, it was that bad. The rest are good call-ups. Buddle was scoring consistently at the Galaxy. Gomez was doing well in Mexico too I think. Ideally I'd go with Ching or a desperation call to McBride.







Also, we'd leave Ricardo Clark at home but hindsight is 20/20.
