I used to say this too, but having since watched the matches when he played up-top, they were all in a 4-4-2 and he hardly ever played in the center, would always drift wide and basically be a winger anyway.

He seems to be much more effective out wide.

If we do have to go false-9, I think Pulisic or Reyna would be the better options, but something doesn't sit well with me asking our best players to not play their best positions.

I think they should have at least tried it out. Our options up top are so poor, it couldn’t have hurt to have tried.

Greg should have at least experimented with a false 9 at some point. Like you pointed out, it’s generally not best to play players out of position, but it does at least allow us to put more of our best players on the field at the same time. It’s all irrelevant now, because Greg never bothered to try it out.
