Jurgen only wanted to call in one natural left back, so some frick unfortunately was unable to knock off Castillo in that regard.

I have watched a lot of Orlando this year, and I am thoroughly unimpressed with Brek Shea as a fullback.

I really don't see any way one could call for his inclusion in the team.

You just described Jordan Morris

Yes, but Morris shows flashes of developable technical ability. Zardes doesn't (or hasn't yet.)

Well, rumor is that Some frick turned down an invite... Apparently, he holds citizenship in Djibouti and wants to keep his options open for the time being.

How much of Shea have you watched in MLS this year? He's been very good. We have only one left back on the roster. And Alvarado and Orozco probably both should not be on this roster.

I have probably watched 3 or 4 Orlando games this season. (including one where he was out with an injury, I think) They always seem to get one of the national broadcast slots.

He's one of the guys I like to keep a critical eye on, because I want him to be good. He's got the talent, skill, and athleticism to be a first choice USMNT player. I'm not sure he has the requisite intelligence, guile, and positional awareness necessary to be a USMNT player. Particularly as a fullback.

For example, I thought he was a complete mess defensively in the game where he had that really nice goal.

We can agree to disagree on all of these things. It's NBD. I personally just don't think he's good enough, and there's really nothing anyone can say to convince me otherwise.

I'll have to see it to believe it.

I also like Orozco's versatility as a player, and I think he's done pretty well for us more often than not.

We only have one left back on the squad. We need more which is why I wouldn't mind seeing Shea. Honestly though Villafana should be on this squad and it's inexcusable that he's not.

But there are several players in the squad who can and have played LB. Off the top of my head, Castillo, Ream, Lichaj, and Acosta have all played LB. Outside of Shea's good offensive contributions, playing any of those 4 there would be an upgrade defensively.

Lol Acosta got torched at LB on the U20 level. Can't wait to see him play there against Colombia's full team.

Castillo is terrible. I don't have faith Lichaj makes the roster given Jurgen's reluctance to call him up in the first place. Ream is solid but more of a natural centerback and kind of slow.

ETA: you and I both know Acosta is a defensive midfielder and not a left back.
