Great second half, and Bob made some great substitutions. Took off the shitty players, and the subs made him look like Rinus Michels.

Cherundolo should always be our right back over Spector.

Findley was surprisingly good today, and not just because of his speed. Torres had a great 45 minutes, Bradley was solid the entire game, and Deuce and Landon came alive in the second half.

Failstein was our lone weakness in the second half, but I understand why Bob took out Bocanegra.

I really believe Torres nearly by himself altered our tactics completely. Just having someone out there who is great at passing the ball seems to make us abandon the kick and run Bob brand of football.

Holden is fantastic too. But yeah, Torres needs to start over Edu.
I like Edu, but Torres looked very good helping on defense in addition to his getting the ball through the midfield.

I was impressed with Findley. I say you play him against Australia.

I'm not totally sure about striker still.

We should let Buddle and Gomez play with Jozy v the Aussies.

The first half had everything people hate about U.S. soccer, poor first touch, long balls that go to no one, no ability to play it through the midfield.

Second half we played balls to the wall, used our superior athleticism to make Turkey play on their heels. It was like last summer all over again.

Torres has to play.
Absolutely, we've all been saying it for a long time.

same

But I'd prefer Dempsey starting in the midfield.

he has to play midfield, striker aint his gig.

Is that, at least in part, a function of the lack of depth?

The crew of guys that set out the Czech game and ate hot wings know that they are not at risk of losing playing time.

Who looked good today, Torres, Findley, Hoden..Guys still fighting for time. If we had a squad full of guys that had to fight for their spot each time out, wouldn't we see more consistent, high level play?

I think Dempsey can do well at forward, but in a 4-4-2, not in a 4-4-1-1 behind Altidore. However, he's done well enough offensively from the midfield.

I actually would prefer Edu, Torres, and Bradley to all play together in the midfield at the same time. Sadly we don't have the defenders to make this possible.

Spector has looked awful for West Ham, I think his confidence is shot. And I didn't blame him for the goal, someone should have rotated back when he came forward. But he had two bad defensive breakdowns outside of that.

Dempsey can play striker. But I'd prefer just going with what worked last summer, i.e. moving him up front after around 75 minutes or so.

The most important player on the team though is Boca. Without a doubt in my mind. Bornstein can't see the field in SA, a Boca injury would make this World Cup unwatchable.

Problem is he didn't play behind Jozy, he played in front of him most of the time.

He is best coming from the midfield, he is good with the ball at his feet, and making runs from the midfield.

Dempsey is best(IMO) playing as a wide trailing striker, in the mold of CR9/Messi 4-3-3 type wing strikers.

Agreed. He seemed lost at times before the lineup changes. I agree with the rest. I don't like Altidore up there alone, but if Findley can play well, it will be fine.

The first was painfully obvious until we found the seemingly miraculous breakthrough in Davies. Jozy just can't cut it as a lone striker, not his fault, but with our squad it is just not possible.

I just...... don't know about Findley. We need to pair Jozy with someone, but I just don't know who.

Torres is a poor man's Xavi/Iniesta. He's not going to out-muscle anyone for the ball, but, as seen today, he can get stuck in on a challenge.

Actually, for me Torres looks exactly like David Pizarro, the deep-lying playmaker for Roma, a diminutive, sublime passer of the ball who can most definitely get "stuck in."

I've really only seen glimpses of Torres before today and Tuesday but he absolutely has to be on the field. He gives us a whole new dimension.

Besides just his skill he does so much just by working hard and hustling also.

Torres covered more ground in his 45 minutes than Clark has covered in all of 2010

I agree Torres needs to play but I don't know if its the best idea against England. I think Edu should start over him for that game alone. He's just too small.
