Should be an incredibly fun game.

This is what I want from that game
------ Altidore -------- Boyd ---------
Dempsey---Bradley-----Jones---Donovan
Johnson---Cameron---Bocanegra---Cherundolo--
------------- Howard---------------
and a 7-0 win.

It would be a fine birthday present for me if we could put a beat down on these dirtbags.

I would rather this:
---------------------- Altidore--------------------
Gomez------------Dempsey------------Donovan
---------------Bradley---------Jones---------
Johnson---Cameron---Bocanegra---Cherundolo

I'd be fine with that.
I want the Boyd - Altidore partnership right now though.

I'm getting a bit sick of Jermaine Jones. He's supposed to be our powerful Yaya Toure box-to-box type player, but he loses possession far too often and averages a stupid yellow card per appearance. There are other options at defensive midfield with which we could experiment (Danny Williams, Maurice Edu, Bradley with Torres in front of him, AHEM Sacha Kljestan).

first off, frick Maurice Edu. He's garbage. I'd take Danny WIlliams, Klejstan, or beckerdreads over that man in a heart beat.

Edu is a good squad player at this point. He filled in admirably at centerback against Mexico, despite not playing at his natural position.
He's not a starter, but he's also way more disciplined than Jermaine Jones.

I do want Klejstan back in the team though.
Balls out vs Italy, never gets another call-up. My only WTF comment on Jurgen thus far.

Looks solid to me. I MIGHT change out Torres for Jones. Bradley and Jones are real similar. Either way, I'll take Shea, Gomez, Torres/Jones, Rimando, Lichaj, Edu, and Goodson
and Happy early bday RDW

On what is means to beat Mexico:
“This means a lot to me because my parents are Mexican, but I was born in the U.S., but since Day One I’ve chose to defend the U.S. and I’ve done it with honor and a lot of respect to the country. One thing that gives me the strength is that my family is always beside me. It’s a play that you’re right in front of the goal and in the blink of an eye you can make a difference and today, that was the difference.”

Problem with this classic diamond 4-4-2 is that Bradley is too high up the pitch to dictate tempo and pick apart a defense. He's not quite agile and attack minded to play in the classic #10 role. The problem with pairing Bradley with Jones is that they both roam in the same general area, and are given similar tactical freedom. Jones loves to make bombing runs through the center, often at the expense of the much more technically astute Bradley. If the US squanders possession (as they often do), it forces Bradley or Jones to make long recovery runs that often lead to yellow card worthy challenges.
Bob Bradley often compensated for this by playing the ultra-conservative Ricardo Clark (who just wasn't very good) alongside Bradley, or the more disciplined Maurice Edu.
As for Kljestan, he's always been a bit of an arrogant personality. This reached his peak when he was the darling of MLS and the North American coverboy for FIFA 10. With the national team, he has trick-or-treat performances--sometimes really promising (09 hat trick vs Sweden, or this year against Italy), sometimes horrendous (red card against Brazil in 09 Confederations Cup)--. The main asset to Kljestan is that he can play as a CAM as he did for Chivas USA, a wide midfielder (occasionally for the USMNT) or a defensive mid/DLP (his role for Anderlecht).

Did I watch a different Italy game than everyone else? I was there and Klejstan looked awful to me. His cameo was brief and he got caught in possession several times.
Posted on 8/19/12 at 3:38 pm to cwil177
guess you're right, I could have sworn he started that game

If my memory serves me correctly Jurgen isn't a big fan of having 2 true strikers playing at the same time I though you usually uses wingers.
I think we would see something like what cwill said. I want to see how Williams plays with us as a D-mid I'm pretty fed up with Jones too he has too many wtf moments on the field although Edu holds the record for moments like that I'm pretty sure.

So after reading yalls proposed lineups, is it safe to say that everyone feels the same about Cameron? His quality play vs Mexico made him look like our CB for the future. Also, him going to Stoke City will let him play some of the best competition in the world and only get better

I've been a huge JFT fan, but he's been nothing short of garbage for the national team in every match outside of Turkey in 2010. He just doesn't fit.
