That's such a stupid rule. Why are you going to a sports message board if you're trying to avoid the outcomes of games? Especially USMNT team games where you can tell who won immediately by looking at the top 10 threads. "LANDON IS A GOD" "Klinsman should be gone by Monday" "at least we went further than Mexico" "12 in a row!!!"

Not starting this again.

Love that scene and gif.
I drank all day with David O'Hara at Finn's one time. He played Fitzy.

If you fail to watch a USMNT game or a huge match live (such as the dramatic Chelsea Barca semi final in 2012), then stay off the fricking board until you watch the game.
The results of this game will be posted with all the thread. For example, with the Chelsea Barca UCL semis in 2012. The whole board just said "TORRRRRREEEEEES frick YES!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The rule works nicely for the most part, but in big championship matches or US matches, then go frick yourself.

I agree, but you run the risk of ruining mid-week games for people that may DVR them, so it should be an all or none policy.
Should I avoid the board entirely on days when Chelsea is playing Shitbrick FC in the 2nd round of the Champions League? (And multiply that by every fan of every different Euro team that has a job or goes to school.)
Why do people need the score in the thread title (for any game, any sport) anyway? Is typing espn.com in to the search bar THAT difficult?
It's common courtesy on damn near every internet site to keep scores out of thread titles. What makes this place so different?

I'm not really sure what's hard to understand about a lot of us having the soccer board as a favorite or homepage and since we click on the damn thing every 10 minutes we're likely to forget that we're avoiding it at some point or another during the course of a day. And if the very first damn thread says "USA 2, Panama 0" it's pretty hard to NOT get spoiled, it's a lot easier to ignore a bunch of new thread titles.

I am fine with the policy for most games, but I would be fine with USMNT matches, the World Cup, and UCL knockout rounds in the title.
Is it that hard to stay off the board if you have a match sitting on the DVR?

This. And it's not hard to post the score IN the thread.

Look at LITERALLY the post directly above yours.

For a game like today, it is simply unrealistic to watch on tape delay and still the visit the board.

Or if you need the score you could, I don't know, maybe use one of the 8000 available live scoreboard apps to follow it

You and others on here don't get it. The rule is not specifically for days like today. It's an all or none policy for the other matches, the midweek European ones or the early starts. How many times do we have to say this?
And I think putting scores in any thread titles are dumb. If you're watching the game and posting in the thread, you're going to know the score.
The rule is to help those who aren't watching these other games. It makes sense on a Wednesday afternoon in the winter. It's not for days like today, but it's easier to stick to one uniform rule for the whole board, 24/7/365.
I mean, do you guys who are whining about the rule really NEED the score in the title? No...
Bottom line: All or nothing. It's like the only real rule on this board.
