Dempsey is fine. Those masks are really annoying and I'm sure they'll give him shots and meds that will make him not notice the nose.
Altidore playing Sunday seems VERY optimistic to me. Anyone who has pulled a hammy knows the only thing that heals it is time.
Maybe serious 24/7 rehab and steroid shots will mask the pain, but I see no way he plays at 100% or plays and doesn't aggravate it for later matches.
Pulled hammies suck.

Jurgen is optimistic about Altidore playing against Portugal
well, i'm optimistic every time i buy a lottery ticket, but that doesn't mean i'm gonna win…
the way he immediately stopped, though he had a pretty good chance of getting to the goal would lead me to believe that injury was pretty significant…
now, we have the most amount of days of rest between games from Ghana to Portugal, so that's in our favor, but in my OPINION, i don't see him playing vs. Portugal...

Jozy's not hurt everybody. He felt like he was about to get burned by the defender so he pulled up lame to save himself the embarrassment.
Can't say I blame him since I'd probably do the same thing.

Anybody else just read the bottom line of ESPN that said Jurgen said Jozy will be back for Portugal but there is no set timetable for his return?

I didn't see it, but you may have read it wrong.

It said he was hopeful that he could play Sunday but no timeline set

Alright I needed some verification. I caught it halfway through and my screen was pretty fuzzy at the time.

Ives basically says no real info released. Seems like USA is trying to make Portugal prepare for Altidore to play.

I would be shocked if Jozy plays againt Portugal. Germany is possible if it was a very light strain.
I'm sure he's getting the very best sacrifices and mumbo-jumbo our witch doctors can come up with.

If we get a result against Portugal, I doubt he plays vs. Germany, unless something weird happens and we need a result vs. Germany.

This.
No matter how minor the tear/strain may be, I don't think he plays five days later against Portugal. Then if we win/draw, why risk it on the Germany game?
We'll use him again when we're out of the group

If we can draw vs Portugal and Germany defeats Ghana, then we are assured to move on correct?
No I guess not, then if Portugal would defeat Ghana it would go to goal differential yes?
