...unless I'm missing a super specific thing about KFC that Jozy Altidore said recently?

The tweet is deleted, but TweetDeck is forever.

Oh shite... it's not even the "correct" stereotype since Jozy isn't African-American.

Is there something more to this? It's honestly so stupid that I would think it's some inside joke. That or it's someone off the poliboard grasping for a joke of some sort.

An inside joke that they realized that nobody would get — for good reason — and quickly deleted is the only half-decent explanation.

Otherwise, what? You can't really blame it on a hack because it had the right shortened link and format for the game story.

Most of the Poli Board thinks soccer is for Communists while the handful of guys pretending to not understand why they shouldn't be proud of white nationalism are upset that we have guys like Altidore, Nagbe, Zardes, and Villafana, not to mention the real dual nationals.

If it's an inside joke and truly an accident then it was written by someone who honestly didn't think about stupid stereotypes. If that's some inside joke with him or a teammate and that's all people think of immediately then what a sad world we have here. Hope Jozy can clear the air if there's an explanation

I wanna hear Bedoya's take on this. His Twitter is usually golden.

And Jozy needs to watch out. Bradley's about to go in for a bite in that picture.

Whenever y'all get an update let me know. That really depresses me if it's some douche with access. Which I think there's a 1% of it actually being. It's either an oblivious inside joke or hack. USA Soccer fans are some of the more tolerant sports fans on the planet

Seriously no one on this board has seen the movie old school?

Clearly referencing when will Ferrell gets in his wife's car after streaking and asks "think KFC's still open"?

I honestly don't remember that part. But now it makes sense. It also makes sense that they took it down. And it's also sad that they took it down because whoever wrote it had nothing in mind about race.

Old School Scene

I totally forgot about this... Yeah. Definitely not some malicious thing, but it's a joke from a 15-year-old movie a lot of people haven't seen or don't remember.

I got it immediately. Didn't even find it that obscure. I don't know...maybe mix some pop culture in every now and then. Pretty famous movie.

I got no prob with the pop culture reference, but I didn't equate Jozy running shirtless to Frank the Tank running nude.

Yeah me neither. I knew there was a story behind it just had to wait for it to be cleared up. Kinda stretching for that joke tho.

Sure the joke itself is a bit of a stretch but that didn't make getting it anymore difficult.

But maybe I'm older than others in the thread and that movie came out when I was in college.

I've seen the movie probably 4-5 times, and I honestly don't remember that line. People used to quote so many lines from that in my freshman year ("you're my boy, Blue", "it feels so good when it hits your lips", "I built Speaker City from the ground up and I can barely read"), but I definitely missed that quote.

I also wasn't offended bc I figured it had something to do with a reference that I was missing, but I thought it was something much newer, like a bit from a viral Youtube star.

I'm 34 and have seen that movie a ton. That's a very obscure quote. And even when explained still not that funny of a reference IMO

I've never seen the movie in its entirety, so the reference is lost on me. But whew, that makes a lot more sense.
