So a Saudi team ponied up 50MM for Joao Felix? Hard to believe.

and doubled his wages. I'm sure this was entirely above board and not some Saudi moving the debt from one account to another.

Hato is official. Let’s go!

Kind of sorry to see KDH go but we ended up recouping the money spent on him. He was a useful piece.

Lots of good players are heading out. It turns out that investing heavily into the academy, and subsequently adding to that talent with a shite ton of young signees on long-term contracts was excellent business. This model of operating seems to be working.
Now to offload Chilly and Raheem. After that, the books are cleaned up nicely.
As for talent, it seems as though we are stockpiling it.
As the youth movement matures on the pitch, I see the Blues being a force moving forward.
We still have some growing pains to endure, but man…I’m bullish on the long term approach.

So what are we thinking will be the likely impact of the short offseason? Should we be concerned about a slow start?

So how good is Guiu guys? Is he starting premier league quality at age 19? Seems like we’re still looking for a permanent striker but if we have a threshold of games he needs to play to avoid paying a bigger loan fee we’re obviously looking to play him a lot.
I know he came from Barcelona but you guys for him did peanuts last year.

He showed promise but got hurt right when he would have been useful.

Levi out for the season. Does that mean we keep Viega? That’s a big blow. Tosin steps in?

According to Fabrizio Romano, despite Colwill's injury blow, the Blues have no 'emergency plan' to enter the transfer market and sign a replacement for the England international. The club have full faith in the existing roster, which has been further bolstered with the arrival of Jorrel Hato from Ajax for €43m (£37.5m).
quote:
Hato signed from Ajax on Aug. 3, one day before Colwill pulled up towards the end of Chelsea’s training session clutching his knee. The 19-year-old Netherlands international is one of Europe’s brightest young defenders, bringing a sense of authority and composure in possession as well as a crucial element of versatility when it comes to his position.
Francesco Farioli almost exclusively deployed Hato as a left back last season but the left footer has ample experience in the middle of a backline—more than a third of his career appearances have come at centre back, per Transfermarkt.
Beyond Hato, Maresca is not exactly short of warm bodies for that particular role. There are eight senior centre backs currently on Chelsea’s books. Several are expected to be moved on this summer, but the likes of Benoît Badiashile and Wesley Fofana have made their intentions to stay in west London abundantly clear.
Maresca routinely turned to Trevoh Chalobah and Tosin Adarabioyo last term, although both players are right footed and so don’t offer the same passing angles as a naturally left-sided defender.

Brutal, we're deluding ourselves if we think we're good to go back there

Leverkrusen was game but Chelsea’s depth wore them down. Really like what we’ve added. Estaveo looked great and will be a problem for opponents. Delap probably should’ve had two but I’m not concerned about him. Back line looked stout even without Colwill. Gittens, Andry, Caicedo, and even Essugo looked good in the midfield. Neto and Cucurella were dangerous. Gonna be fun to watch these guys come together.

I would imagine that with the depth of the squad, the start will be manageable.
The tail end of the season may be another story.

Enzo has two full units at his disposal
the Top Squad for EPL and UEFA
and a complete Second Squad for everything else
there should be plenty of rest for the first team guys
this worked beautifully last season

Yes. If anything, this team has depth.
