Nguyen would have been a decent choice over Zusi and the formation basically begs for Nagbe in it.

Zusi is WAY more familiar to CONCACAF bullshite than the other options, and Guatemala will have that shite on FULL display from the first minute.

Should we be alarmed that Zusi wasn't even in camp to start and is now starting, despite having Nagbe and Nguyem who could easily play that position?

Maybe. I think it's going to play more as a 4-4-2 with Zardes and Zusi on the wings. I could even imagine Zusi on the left and Zardes on the right.
Nguyen and Nagbe CAN do up and down the wing, but it isn't their strength.

because you have to leave old guys off to call up younger players?
I feel like we forget a lot when we complain a out the lack of youth in the side that we likely have to cut an older guy to do so.
