but it is their job to start molding them into a cohesive national team with an identity and chemistry.

I think this period is more for exploring the depth of our pool, bringing in some new faces, seeing how they stack up against some of the fringe players (since those are the first people they have to beat out on the road to the start in XI). After this World Cup, hire the new manager, bring most of the starters back in as well as the guys that have impressed you in the last 6 months (McKennie, Adams, Miazga, etc.), and start building from there in August.

Just my thoughts.

Just guys that are getting regular minutes.

had this been a meaningful game, id be inclined to agree. but considering the circumstances and the fact that some of the MLS guys prob needed to be with their clubs this week, this break was unique opportunity to let some new faces in, maybe break the spell a little and get the butterflies out of the way.

but, more importantly, we have a fundamental difference of opinion on the role of the national team, so i guess we're at an impasse.

To get us back on a lighter mood, Weah became the 1st player born in 2000 to play for the USMNT.

Would last nights team have beaten T&T?

I kind of doubt it. Just didn't have many offensive threats, and there's no telling what would have happened on that shitty field.

Nagbe and Villafana were also miles better last night than they were against Trinidad and Tobago.

Yes, but they also weren't playing their 2nd game in a few days and hadn't just flown to South America.

We also had a cohesive midfield that seemed to understand and were capable of performing their roles. I don't know if that team wins at T&T, but they probably don't lose and that's all we needed

The senior team isn't really about development. If we were concerned about development, then Weah definitely should have been with the U20s

Late to the party - but it's important to separate POOL development from PLAYER development.

Last night was important in continuing/accelerating the development of our player pool for the next time we have a match that matters.

Don't know, but i know they wouldn't of played dead out there like the team that played TnT did.

please stop blaming the field, 2 teams had to play on it, and TnT ran with ease on it. Our quitters played dead.

I agree you can blame a shite field if a ball hits a divot and goes over the keepers head for what would have been an easy save. Also, we play on shitty fields every cycle it was not a surprise.

Fun facts in case anyone missed these: LSU basketball legend Howard Carter's son is on the team and went the full 90 at CB (he's a beast, just like Hi-C), and another player's dad is the president of Liberia/former world player of the year George Weah. It sucks to miss a world cup but the young players on the US are pretty fun to watch and I'm looking forward to the future.

Hi C's kid? REALLY?
Damn, that is cool!!!
