I just use Netflix and Prime for pretty much everything other than sports. I knew about FX, but not FXX.

Even on his assist, he took a really heavy touch toward the endline.

Zardes is like a beautiful antique clock that no longer runs. It looks the part but is only right a twice a day.

so after two games there really hasn't been a single player i'm excited about moving forward. i thought maybe acosta before the tournament, but my opinion of him has gone down if anything. i suppose dwyer, but even then i'm not that excited about him.

perhaps there is someone on the bench who hasn't been given a chance yet, but so far if any of the guys that have played are needed for significant minutes in Russia (knock on wood) we fuuuuucked. that said, i doubt anyone out there will get significant minutes.

i don't know, maybe these guys will improve as the tournament advances, but so far my total take away is...

Acosta hasn't looked good in the Gold Cup, but how much of that is the team around him. He looked really good against Mexico and Ghana. The team against Ghana was the same, but the line-up was much more logical then the two so far.

Villafana, Acosta, Lichaj, Dwyer, and Agudelo have all impressed so far IMO. That's a starting LB, the future at DM, a backup RB, and two strikers between 3-5 on the depth chart.

The line-up against Ghana and Panama was basically the same.

Thread is too long to read but since this Gold Cup seems to have a youth movement theme why are we playing lame arse Brad Guzan in goal?

Is there any chance we see any of the big names called up once we hit the knockout stage?

We probably lose last night without Guzan. I think he's in there as insurance because of the youth movement on the rest of the pitch. It seems the primary focus is finding players to take to Russia, but Bruce still wants to win this thing. Our 1-2-3 goalkeepers are pretty set for Russia. Barring several injuries guys like Hamid and Gonzalez aren't going to Russia

If you're going to look at it this way, it's impossible for any of the players to impress unless we play Mexico. Martinique isn't much worse if at all worse than most the teams in this tournament.

I agree that Morris is trash though.

He did make a couple really solid saves, especially ones at close range. The first goal was garbage on his part, but the rest of the game was solid. No way to blame him for 2nd goal after the solid save he just made, and the fluke chip it made.

It's weird how this board (and alot of US Soccer fans overall) seem to hate those with proven quality...ie Guzan, Bradley, Bedoya.

If this tournament has taught us anything, it is that the skills gap is still massive, and they should get much more credit than they have been.

US Gold Cup Stock Report
Guzan: same. will be #2 in Russia. Still good, not great. Never will be great. Timmy's Belgium superhuman performance made GK expectations totally unreasonable IMO.

Villafana: UP. More out of need than anything. His performances have been average (good forward, bad defensively).

Dwyer: UP!! 2 games, 2 goals. Proving he can do it on the big stage. #4 on my striker list right now. (Wood, Jozy, Deuce)

Agudelo: Up some. Has yet to have that "moment", but played quite well so far.

Thats all I can say that have really changed their status, up at least, so far. Others have proven they can't handle international play.

Really want to see a Miazga-Besler pairing next game.

It's not like he's the only one who could have made those saves. Plus he flat out gave up a shite goal.

So again, disagree that we would have lost without Guzan.

FWIW i don't blame him for the 2nd goal.

By that train of thought, what has been impressive about Agudelo?
