I swear I didn’t put this in Google translate. I’ve been taking Spanish classes via Zoom through my employer so this is also a pop quiz for me

Don’t know the word baja

Tim Weah has not come with the team to Hamilton, Canada.

In the coming hours, more information sill be known for the reason of his absence (don’t know the word ausencia so I’m guessing via context) but CT (?) will confirm if he is at the game against Honduras in Minnesota.

How did I do?

You did well. Ausencia is “absence”, so basically they will have more info on why he is absent soon, but a CT scan will confirm his availability for the Honduras match in Minnesota.

Now the question becomes do we start Aaronsen or Fat Messi?

Ah, thanks. I’m pretty surprised by the CT scan being brought up since he didn’t seem injured at all, and that’s usually reserved for something pretty serious.

Considering he was only coming back from injury I was never expecting Weah to start every game this cycle. And we actually have good cover. I would start Aaronson for sure.

This really sucks because he has been our best player for the past two or three windows.

doesn't meet vaccine requirements

quote:

#USMNT head coach Gregg Berhalter said Tim Weah did not travel because his vaccination – which meets all criteria in France, where he plays professionally – doesn’t meet Canada’s entry requirements.

Weah travels today to Minnesota for #USAvHON.

I’m OK with Aaronson and Pulisic for 90 in Hamilton. Then Weah can go 90 Wednesday.

Absolutely. I really don’t think think there is much, if any, drop off between Weah and Aaronson

Because he was asked to be a false 9.
Well, we aren’t exactly old Barcelona so color me surprised that using a false 9 didn’t really work to our advantage.

Except it did considering how the goal was scored.

The only thing Ferreira did wrong was miss that goal off the Weah header (and yeah, that's a big miss). But other than that, his work rate was great and pretty much all of our best chances involved him in some fashion.

Considering our biggest strength in the whole pool is our wingers and our outside backs love to get in on the attack, a false 9 is probably the best fit for what we're trying to do. Someone that drop in towards the midfield, have good hold up play and plays our wingers/outside backs into dangerous positions.

It's why Jozy's entire body shattering really affected us more than USMNT fans like to admit. He did all of those things and could also bag goals. It's why Gregg still has Zardes in the fold, he does all those things when he is not tripping over himself. I think we're about to see Ferreira usurp Gyasi though because he's young and has much better on-ball quality.

Pepi I think will take the mantle as our number 9 as he continues to grow. He has the nose for goal but already you are seeing his hold up play improve.

The issue against ES with the false 9 was Pulisic trying to come centrally into the same space. He can do that ok with a striker that will stay high but with the false 9 it just creates more crowding. If Pulisic stays wide, or even gets moved to the right, I think it helps the team out more with this kind of set up. Matt Doyle has a good write up about this issue and others. Pulisic on the right and Weah on the left makes sense.

Gregg had a great quote today on Pulisic basically saying that he needs to realize that this isn't 2017 where everyone around him was either old or shite so he had to do everything, Pulisic is still one of our most talented players, but we have legit talent around him now, he doesn't have to do everything.

Too many times he would get the ball in a good spot and just dribble into spaces occupied by two or three Salvadoran defenders, trying to make something happen.
