Not really. Talent also includes doing the right thing with the ball after you get into the final 3rd. He's god awful at that part.

His final ball is almost always a dud.

I really think he's just gotten lazy. Touch is something that comes with work and he may not be putting in the time.

Bacon, Cameron, Jurgy being forced to see that Johnson should be left back.

Agree on those positives.

What are the chances Bacon is in the starting XI in Brazil?

I really just wish Dempsey would play like he gave a shite again. For playing in the hole, he's too fricking lazy and it destroys any chance of connecting a ball from the back to Jozy or any other player in the attacking third.

What the frick happened to hoodrat from Texas that played with an edge and creativity? The money and captaincy has made him soft.

Dempsey has been a huge disappointment since 2010 IMO. His time a Fulham ruined him I think. He got the attitude of "I play in the EPL and no one else on the US squad does so I shouldn't have to do shite."

I think you mean Spurs. There are a number of matches that we would have lost without him.

Yep I did.

ETA: I still think the squad needs a striker from the Brian McBride mold. A players that isn't the biggest, strongest, fastest, or most skilled but he does all the dirty work in the final 3rd and just puts the ball away when given the chance.

He scored 7 goals in 8 or 9 matches didn't he?

Against world powers like Haiti, Cuba, Guatemala and the K-League All Stars impersonating South Korea.

Most of those in one match. All of those against dross. He's also only scored in 4 of 18.

Then he isn't the guy, but I still the the US needs a player like that. Maybe a guy with a bit more pace and skill than Wondolowski. Jozy doesn't like doing the dirty work and the US won't be as successful without a player like that. There just aren't enough skilled strikers or goal-scoring midfielders from the US.

ETA: I don't know how most of you feel about Green, but he would be a HUGE boost to the attack.

The one thing to take from this game is that Brooks isn't ready. He was all over positionally. Kljestan has always been a bleh player and I hope his spot goes to someone more dynamic like Diskerund.

People always complain about Dempsey but he's just going to be a languid player.

We aren't ever going to run a high pressure system, and this game was good in that it showed we still lack the ability to spot midfield runners and track them.

Then he probably shouldn't be the captain and his starting spot should be in question.

It's hard to take anything from this match other than Brooks and Onyewu really don't need to come to Brazil. They were both just awful and you will never look decent against a good opponent with 2 bad center backs.

I think Landon will get the arm band in Brazil since this will likely be his USMNT farewell.

I'd honestly prefer a starting XI with something like:

----Altidore-----

Bacon-Donovan-Zusi

---Mix-Bradley----

Johnson-Besler-Omar?-Cameron

Than relying on our midfield creativity coming from a lethargic and out-of-form Dempsey and trick-or-treat Jermaine Jones.

I think it is almost set in stone who our CB pairing will be; Gonzalez and Besler.

I would much rather have Aron Johannsson coming on late in the game, as opposed to Shea in Brasil. Same with Mix being a second half sub... MB90, Mix, Landon, and Zusi will all improve the attack when they are in the squad. Bedoya hasn't impressed me enough to put him in the starting XI either.

I agree... though I can't help but think that Jones will be starting.
