I'm a casual follower of US soccer and soccer in general. I deff recognize some of the players but I know in the past in friendly and some of these no WC qualifier games we don't play all the starters. Is that the case today?

No he doesn't fit the Bundesliga at all. Even if he was in his prime. His play fit the PL much better than the Bundesliga where teams press high and there's really not that much time. He's the opposite of the kind of player you need to be in the Bundesliga. Mixx Diskerud is a guy who would thrive in Germany.
